Hi all,

Second edition of OIE is waiting for uploading, just need the FTP details. Here's a couple of screenies in the meantime.

There are several improvements and gameplay tweaks, probably the most important being the inclusion of WASD screen scrolling - makes things much more fun, that and the map make for an easier game, so now the camera has to stay close to a dude, no more surveying the whole level before making a move .

If someone can complete it and tell me their score, I might post the cheat codes when I get back (in a week or so).

It is uploaded, Rich is gonna replace the old version with the new one.

Problem though is I'm away in about half-an-hour and I'm away until the 31st so won't know when the new version is up. Could someone keep an eye on the showcase for the new version for me please? - then post here to tell folks it's up? - I'd really appreciate it.

Hey Van-B, this project is looking even better than before. I already thought it was great at release, but you've added some beautiful features to really increase the quality and lifespan of the game.

I'll really look forward to seeing some new maps for this game as well.

Nah, it took ages - It was a lot of work for me because I'm not that experienced at modelling, so most of my time was taken up by that. It's based on Canon Fodder, and the gameplay is very similar. It's just not fast paced enough - look out for my next game though - action in spades!

Excellent work! Cannon fodder is one of my all time favourite games, and this is a great looking/playing 3D version.

It’s great that you’ve taken the time to add lots of nice effects. It makes the game stand out as a quality piece of work. I particularly like the water effect, and the ripples left by the swimming dudes are great. Nice work.

Nice graphics, plays really smooth. The controls are pretty nice, but there sure is alot of direct control for an RTS. The jeep is cool, but can my guys shoot while still in the jeep? I couldn't get them too. The aliens are pretty weak, you should increase their range.

I would say it is more action than strategy, but it is still fun. My scrolling did get stuck quite often, that was a little annoying.

I really like the 3d modeling and texturing. Great job.

Oh yeah...you should convert your textures to .jpgs. They are huge!
