What's this all about then? Although I've had DB classic for years, I'm sure I've used it on this PC before.

This sounds like a hardware issue? Help me out, chums!

It means that your video card dose not support 3-D graphics.
what is your video card?

It's an NVIDIA GeForce Ti 4200 with AGP8X (if that helps). Which is odd, cos it quite happily handles 3D graphics at other times.

I'm thinking maybe it's configured wrongly?

Also, when using dxdiag, I got a message telling me that whilst Netmeeting is open it can't handle 3D acceleration. Again, odd, cos Netmeeting isn't open - however MSN messenger is, and isn't Netmeeting integrated into that? I'll have a crack at shutting it down and seeing what happens.

(for the record, shutting "netmeeting" / MSN messenger down doesn't help - I still get the same error message when trying to F5 execute a DB program)

This is still stumping me - I must have used DB on this PC before, cos some of my old programs are on the HD and I haven't transferred them from another PC.

My guess is you have an older version of DX installed.

Me too Finn Mann - DX version 9 here. 3D games and applications work perfectly. Did you find a way around this, or have you simply had to stop using DBC with that graphics card?

Surely someone else must've had this problem? Back to the drawing board.

An geforce fx 5950 ultra for $1.00?

Are you sure it's not the "1-page" manual you ordered?

=C= - nope, it's not set to dual monitor.

Am I really looking at having to buy a new graphics card? I really would hope not. I know that DBC worked on this one before and can't for the life of me work out what's happened since I was last programming.

I've updated the most recent NVDIA drivers (april 2004) and still no joy.

I've typed the error message into google, but got a foreign site that doesn't translate well.

I'm still scratching my head over this one...

Anyone speak Portugeuse? I'm still working on this one, and found the (only) mention of this error message in google too me to this (Darkbasic) website. Someone asked the same question as me and got this reply:

*********************************************************************

*********************************************************************
Getting Google to translate the page comes to this:

probably its plate of video and one sis530.

va in executing in the menu to inicar and types "dxdiag" va in the pagina to show la in top and sees in the field resources of direct x, probably direct 3d estara disactivated.

if it will be this q I I said vc tera q to lower to driver of its plate of video 7 q has supported dx 9 or to install dx q its plate supports, or in I more finish case and recommended to buy a plate of 2 video nova(mine and one geforce mx400 with 64mg and wheel db blz).
*********************************************************************

Which doesn't make a huge amount of sense, but am I right to believe that you can disactivate 3D in DirectX? When I run it, it runs 3D perfectly, **just not within Darkbasic** Ack!

Please don't tell me I have to buy a new graphics card!

I can understand a bit of portuguese, it's like spanish..mm let me see. I'll put some notes in, they'll be marked with "TN" (Translater's note):

Probably your video card is a sis530

Go to start menu and write "dxdiag", then it will show a window. In one of the tabs is a list of the resources of DirectX, or probably Direct3D is disabled. (TN: he means that in one of the tabs of the window there will be a list showing the files and resources of DirectX. Depending on your Windows version of course, not everyting in Windows 98 is the same as in Windows 2000 or XP. Anyway, you'll sure find a tab that shows that, and in another tab will be a button or a checkbox that defines if Direct3D is enabled or disabled).

If that is the case then you'll have to download a driver of Dx9 that your video card supports, or install Dx7 that it's the Dx that your video card supports. (TN: he says Dx7 because that's the lastest version of Dx that the sis530 video card supported. For actual times, install the lastest Dx that your video card supports), or, as the last option, it's recommended to buy a new video card (minimum a GeForce MX400 with 64Mb RAM).

I hope this'll be useful
