I've seen a few posts and code snipits for RTS mouse selection and placement (similar to Railroad Tycoon 3) but have not found a 100% solution for DB Classic. I've tried to use some of the db pro snipits - but was unable to make it work.

I want an object to "stick" to the mouse cursor before placing it (no matter what the current xyz camera angles are)

I'm assumming some involved math calculations are required to show the correct 3d world placement of the object has it follows the mouse around the screen (no matter what the xyz camera angles are)

The above screenshot shows sorta what I mean (a small building following the mouse - ready for placement into the 3d world)- however my code doesnt work if the camera is moved or rotated.

Any ideas or solutions? Has anyone been able to do this in db?

Thanks
Bill
