TKF15H, that follows the musings of a particular Greek philosohper... who was constantly proved wrong by his rival . Speed, friction, and the rest of the laws of the universe do not apply in percentiles !

"Ive not done maths like that in ages but surely 2(a^2 - ab) cannot equal a^2 - ab (i didnt even try to simplify)"

Yes it can, as long as a^2-ab = 0. 2*0=0. Then when you divide by a^2-ab you are dividing by 0, which screws everything up but in variable form, you don't even notice.

Same thing here:

sin180 = 0 (true)
sin180 + sin180 = 0 + sin180 (addition)
2sin180 = sin180 (as in last example)
2sin180 / sin180 = sin180 / sin180 (division)
2 = 1 (all sin180's cancel out)

But thus, you are dividing by 0 in reality. Undefined, so it screws up the rest of the problem.

EDIT - oops, Im way behind. Didnt notice the second page here. (not used to these forums still)

Hey ! It's a wizened wizard standing in front of a sky with two moons behind him. If it's really too dark, I'll turn the gamma+brightness up a bit on it .

The pixelation is supposed to be, er, clever, I think.

Okay how's this? They look awful to me . I might have to remake them entirely .

Damokles: The av is meant to be pixelated - its the emoticon scaled up to 50x50 pix -

LOL

and yes, it was quite clever, as Mouse mentioned above
(well not really but I will pretend)

Mouse: Much better!

Mouse, TBH, I don't like either the new or your old ones, but it's your choice, not mine

Damokles, Nah, it doesn't make you look violent... To me, the ninja fella gives a sense of stealth and cunning... and the name "Damokles" sounds pretty cool, lol.

adr, lol... I imagine you as a beer-bellied bold man sitting in front of a PC... lol ( no offence meant if you really do look like that Red Blob of course... )

Any comments on my Avatar anyone?

Jess.

it depends on what a and b are, they arnt ALWAYS a=b cos its not posible

e.g gradient of a line

a=mb+c (a=y and b=x in this case)

i think neofish is still at math: the error is that there`s a division by zero, because a^2 - ab equals 0, if a=b.

mouse, i never saw your avatar, but now it looks psychedelic

I thought your game was bright enough. Looked just as bright as it did in the screenies.

Avatars don't really give me any impression on people. But for some reason the n00bs tend to radiate with some strange and easily identifiable aura. *Oooh, n00b radiation waves...! o_O*

@Mouse: Your avatar and sig kinda look badly compressed. And the nose-hole in the avatar is disturbingly huge...

Yup, I know. But there are people who use this forum on 56k and I think it's more important that the load times for them aren't abominably large. The text is readable and the images are crisp enough; that's all I really care about.

(Nobody's tried to figure out what the siggy says yet though )

I can't read what the text says. The font is too fancy. The only things I can make out are the exclamation marks.

Hey Jess, what do you think of my av?

Mouse, if you're worried about file size, don't have such a darn HUGE ( physical size ) sig image!!

arkheii,
Well, TBH, It also makes me think that you're a girl...
It's a nice animation though... I used to really like the Japanese Anime style, so I think it looks great
And the transparency just sets it off

Jess-> Compare to Damokles' (or anyone else with Mussi-made avatars) images... or TCA's for that matter, his is far wider... or many many others on the forum . Mine is actually fairly small. And it was smaller before .

Arkheii-> Interesting. Anime's not my style so I couldn't really offer any critisism there .

Yeah, fair enough Mouse

When making something like that, you need to think about the design... indi is best for that...

always remember KISS - Keep It Simple, Stupid.

Don't have too much happening... Make it legable, and make it light ( things that are dull, or low in light are just annoying to read/look at ).

there is anither way to make transparent "Looking" avatars, just orint the screen and copy the color of the forum that is behind your avatar and then just put it in to your image.

lol, yeah, you could do that Cookyzue, but for those of us that are signed up to many different forums, all with different colour schemes, it's better to have it actually transparent.

Good idea though..
