I decided to move this post to this board as version 1 of Twilight is pretty much finished apart from a couple of minor things.

For those of you that don't know Twilight is an alternative IDE for DBPro.

Here is a screenshot:

More details can be found on my site:

http://www.eclipsedevelopment.co.uk/

Anyway, there is a new version out, it has a couple of extra controls which means you need to download the full installer, even if you already have Twilight installed.

The link to the full installer is:
http://www.eclipsedevelopment.co.uk/files/twilight102.msi

Finally, here are the release notes for the latest version:

Changes: 1.0.2

NB: Had to restore from version 0.9.28, so a few of the inbetween bits and pieces and fixes might have been lost.

Fixes:

Fixed issue where you open the Code Injector, close it and open it again, the treeview list has disappeared.

Fixed problem where Help Browser started with error not found page.

Fixed problem where Help Browser went to "not found" when the index was selected from the main menu

Bug where selecting BOLD for the "standard text" in the appearence setting did not work was found to be an issue with the control. I, therefore, removed the option to avoid confusion.

Problem where type assistance didn't come up if you had tabbed first is now fixed.

Twilight no longer crashes if you code inject while the code window is hidden.

Code suggest window has been moved a little to the right.

Choosing a background image now brings up bmp and jpg filetypes.

Undoing with nothing to undo no longer causes crashing.

Redoing with nothing to redo no longer causes crashing.

Issue with the DBPConfig.dll location, which occasionally occured is now fixed.

Issue where auto indent did not startup properly is now fixed.

Issue where Twilight did not attach media properly to its executables is now fixed.

Issue where Twilight did not store version information correctly in the DBPro file is now fixed.

Twilight does not load associated DBPRO and DBA files, although it does open when you click on them is now fixed.

Improvements/Updates:

Progress bar can now display what it is actually doing in the bar itself.

Amended Compile Settings and Display Settings to work as an actual property form.

Combined Var Type Functions Labels into one window, which is tabbed.

Added Cascading Windows and Tiling Windows options.

The FIND function is now an ICON on the top of the menu bar.

Icon Menu has been revamped.

Execute button added to menu bar.

You can now use CTRL and 1-9 to create bookmarks in the code which correspond to those numbers.

Bookmarks now display visually.

3D X model browser now zooms and rotates if you use LMB and move and RMB and move, respectively.

i have problems with installing: it says that the file msdxm.ocx is protected by windows. it proceeds installing, but running Twilight results in a runtime error 372 and says something is outdated.

Edit: I updated msdxm.ocx manually and the error doesn't occur any longer when installing. The runtime error remained. It says: "Failed to load control " from . Your version of may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application." The information, which file is outdated, is missing.

Edit again: I'm using Windows XP.

Same error...

But from what I can tell, the GUI is very much improved!

MXDSM.OCX - that is the media player control. Can I ask if any of the people who are having problems have media player 9?

Anyway - I know how to sort this out. I'll do another installer tonight.

Ok, I've updated the installer. If anyone got a problem with "registering controls" would you mind trying the revised version?

Its at the same place as the old installer.

Hey Mods, I believe a sticky is called for (man it's getting crowded at the top of this board), since this is something people can use all the time, and not just a one off then delete demo .

I had the problem with your first posted version at the top and the reason was because it wasn't deleting and re-installing the shortcut on my desktop. When I deleted and re-made the shortcut my "registering controls" problem went away. Works great now. I haven't tried the 2nd or 3rd versions you posted.

Ok, I think I've sorted it.

http://www.eclipsedevelopment.co.uk/files/twilight102.msi

I think the problem was 2 problems - one a problem with media player on one or two machines. The second was a problem which seems to randomly occur with a specific Dll "dbp_config.dll" not being picked up by Twilight occasionally. Fortunately, this dll doesn't really do anything so I remmed out all reference to it. This error inexplicably occured in code I haven't changed since the first public beta of Twilight.

Thats what I love about programming so much...

Anyway, I'm really sorry to ask you to download yet another installer, but if you could check it out and verify that it works, that would make me very happy indeed.

Cheers,

Still same problem with Runtime error 372. Could you also add a function to the installer to be able to set the DBPro directory. If i run it straight after install i get the 372 error straight away after its loaded a few bit of the gui. If i change the path of the dbpro dir in the ini to point to my H drive then it does all the keyword scanning stuff then comes up with the error 372.

Found the problem for sure this time. One of the extra controls I added needed the msflexgrid control to be packaged with it - that was the control that was missing.

Will upload a new version after I do more tests.

Good news. Finally fixed it. Tested on 2 machines that were not working before.

The new installer is in place of the old one.

Sorry to mess people around. I feel really bad about this. The problem was the issue with the flexgrid control - to fix it I just included it with the installer.

Hey hey, works! Function and label lists definite improvement, same with the project options. The cascade and tile is good, apart from the cascade now that I come to think of it should only cascade source code windows , I didn't really get what you meant by cascade.

Just a quick post about a small problem i found while setting up my workspace. When i grabbed a window and tried to move it to a new location(function viewer window) i accidently resized it instead, and before i realised i had moved the mouse lower than the bottom of the window while dragging resize and it came up with error 380 invalid property value. same problem happens on the code window as well.

Added Cascading Windows and Tiling Windows options.

How can you only mention that only once Glenn !? Can you say #include ? Or how about , "Look mah, 10,000 lines and I can find each one of them quickly !"

A revelation.

*realises this is a very little thing that has just pleased him*.

Well, there are slight differences, but Twilight should be able to load original IDE files and blue IDE dbpro files and vice versa. I've never had the problem myself, but it may something about the file you are trying to load, that I haven't encountered previously.

Would you mind sending me the dbpro file so I can take a look?

There is a new version out 1.03:

There is a patch here....

http://www.eclipsedevelopment.co.uk/files/Patch10b3.zip

And I've updated the online updater files, so if you can use that, you can download it from there.

Changes: 1.0.3

Fixed issue where a "rem" in a functionname (for example remove) would stop Twilight picking them up as functions.

Fixed issues where closing function lists loses function information from them upon reopening.

Forced EXE files to compile in Project dir to resolve certain compiling issues.

...theres a couple of other things, but I forget what they are.

Thanks AramusM, this new version will fix the function window.

As for the DBPro version number that comes from a file DBPConfig.dll which is supplied with DBPro. What happens is that Twilight carries its own version of this file and when you update the file (with a dbpro update) Twilight does not. I will write a modification to the Twilight startup routine that copies the file over anew on startup which will ensure that Twilight has it up to date.

Ok, downloaded and installed your latest patch.

Still seem to be able to crash twilight with Error '380' by trying to pull the top of the function viewer window lower than the bottom.(Do i need a reset after patch?)
The same problem also exists with the main code editor window and the to-do list window.

Also the to-do list isnt staying where i put it. I move it and resize it somewhere, select another window, then reselect the to-do list window and it repositions it back in the center of the screen.

AramusM - what version number is it coming up with in ABOUT TWILIGHT?

If it is still coming up with 1.0.5 then would you mind checking that the patch is applying to the same place that you have Twilight installed?

Cheers.

ArasmusM, hmm, if twilight is still saying 1.0.5 then it is the wrong version and the EXE is not installing right... (That was a testing version I incorrectly set the version number for.)

I'll tell you what: email me on the email address above and I'll send you the EXE on its own so you can just drop it into the folder, if you like.
