Most games made in DB and DBPro do not sell...

What if a DB compilation CD with about 50 or 60 completed, high quality DB and DB Pro games was made by us DB users?

If anyone has any program suggestions (if such a CD were to be made), could they post them in this format;

Program title
Author
DBC or DBP
Genre
Download link / Website

If there is a good response, this could get off the ground I am thinking about RegNow or Cafepress Pro shop as a good way of selling such a CD. Each game's author would get a share of the profits. It may sound naive, but give it a think - it could happen with a little effort. I've certainly heard much worse ideas for commercial projects.

Drew Cameron,

I like your idea. I just wish my game where closer to being finished (or at least presentable).

Good idea, but I'm planning on selling my better games all by themselves. I could give one game that is REALLY sh!ty as to collision. And one that everyone thinks is boring.

So here's the boring one:

Get to close to an enemy withoout sneak mode activated and your busted! So far, I'm tryin to make it so they call for backup like in MGS2). Good idea. If it sells, we should get shares $$$.

Maybe any slightly sub-par submissions could be touched up by me if you are willing? I am good at fixing collision etc...

So far so good

Keep them coming!

IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SUBMISSION - DONT POST!

It makes the thread really untidy and is very annoying.
Any more ideas?

Can I suggest a business plan and contract before everyone drops their hard work into the pool?

What is a share of the profits? Equal? based on game size/effort? anyone get a cut for effort for publishing the CD? burning the CDs? What about returns? How is tax handled, especially across different countries? How do you plan to pay out? What's the frequency? What if a submision screws up a customer's PC? What if someone intentionally submits a time bomb? What if someone submits copyrighted games/images/models? Who is ultimately accountable?

I don't mean to dampen your fire, but the above questions are probably the reason why it's never been done. We all know there are malicious (ex)forum members out there, probably still lurking.

Nice questions. I'll have to think about some of them and the others I've already thought out (publishing will be done using a Cafeshop.com shop for instance)

I'll post back soon. In the mean time - any more?
