Hey yall, its good to be back.

Neway, I have a dual boot system, and in win98 returnin to da IDE by pressing f12 takes seconds. However, when i'm in XP, it takes ages, or it doesn't come back from da IDE at all, and I have to bring da Task manager up to close it manually, and even that takes ages. I don't know if something similiar has been posted here previously, but help or a remedy would be coolz.

Thanx in advance,
DV

Don't expect any patches for DBC to come out any time soon, if at all.

Which IDE are you using? The default editor ( The horrid Black screen with no syntax highlighting ) or DarkEDIT or Code Keeper?

How fast does it exit if you hit Esc, then press the Back button? Still the same?

Jess.

darkedit or the stock darkbasic IDE.
It still takes ages to exit even if I hit the esc key then the back key.

what I meant by the stock editor is the default editor. In fact it does it when I try to quit any thing darkbasic... eg. compiled programs, the editor itself.

That could be a problem with your video card having to reload the desktop...

Or, it may be something to do with Window's itself having a problem destroying the window and releasing the memory from the DarkBASIC interpreter to windows.

I'm not sure.

All I can suggest is update your video drivers to the latest versions, and update DirectX to 9.0b ( or 9.0c if you trust M$'s beta ).

Jess.

OK, i had kinda figured out wat was causing these problems. I opened up db 1.13 da other day on XP and apparently it closed without hesitation; no annoying frozen black/white screen. Then I realised dat my CD-ROM drive wasn't working, no CD drive in my computer, probably cause Nero locked it up somehow from recent burning. So I resetted my system and got my CD drive working again. This time DB froze like usual, so I tried disabling da driver of my CD drive and DB was closing fine again. My guess is dat db, from something like version 1.11 upwards needs to check or wait for something relatin to da CD drive or driver. For now, my remedy to bypass db's closing lock-up is to disable ur CD drive driver, which would probably be called ATAPI something for the most of ya. I mite see if i could update da driver and see if da problem fixes itself up.

Neway, sur-weet shiii
