Or more specifically, what is a normal?

I get the point of CollisionHit - returns me the point of contact on a particular axis for that object.

But what is the normal of an object? Calling all maths people - help me out here...

The normal is the angle at which the collision occurs. I think it is the angle of collision divided by 360?

no, the normal pertains to the polygon face at which the collision occurs. It's a perpendicular vector to that face, which would most often be used to align objects to it such as bullet hole marks.

Can anyone expand on that, or direct me to a website with tutorials on this sort of stuff?

I can understand polygons, know what perpendicular means, and have an inkling about vectors; but I'm lost when this command chucks a number back at me - I don't know what it specifically means or how I can use it.

The NG help page assumes we know all about normals, you see.

If you don't know what a polygon is nor what perpendicular means, I suggest you pick up a really basic math book. Those are terms taught in grade school.

polygon = shape
perpendicular = forms a right angle(90 degrees)

No, no Phaelax - i *DO* know what a polygon is, as what perpendicular means.

It's the stuff about vectors and stuff I'm lagging behind on. Thanks for the tutorial link, winch
