TELL ME A WAY TO LEARN THIS LANGUAGE PROPERLY .... AND TELL ME HOW DO YOU CREATE ALL THOSE TECHNIQUES BY YOURSELF .................................................................................................................................................... It's not a stupid language. In fact, it is programming dumbed down significantly in part for folks like you. I suggest you start with the tutorials provided on this website. Then perhaps move up to tutorials you find on these forums. Then maybe check out the Codebase for snippets you can try out and perhaps adapt to your own needs.

As long as you understand logic, any language can become easy. And also, keep in mind that none of us learned to program in a day, or even a year for that matter. It'll take some time, and much frustration along the way I'm sure. Start with the tutorials. Understand how the code works and why it works. Programming will teach you to think outside the box.

Might I suggest decaf ?

As phaelax and jebus already said, learning Dark Basic is like learning a human language. You might not get it in a day, a week, a month, or even a year, but when you get it, you'll look back and see how far you've come, and hopefully you'll feel proud of yourself.

Just start with "Hello World", then something simple like a text adventure or pong (one wonders which is harder ), then pac-man, then a 3d racer, and progressively challenging yourself until you get to pro level. Before you know it, you'll be reading code like a second language. That's how I got into it, and so did a lot of other people.

So keep programming and don't lose hope, you'll understand it someday.

@James Bond: it`s called organisation, set aside a couple of hours (or just an hour) to do some one task, say... to get the machine to accept your name and print it on the screen, if you get that done in the time then add another step, get it to add something to your name etc, next time get a sprite up on the screen, if you manage that then get it to move from side to side by pressing keys, then next time add another that moves at random, when something doesnt work then go through the steps with pencil and paper, if you still cant see the problem then post the code and ASK FOR AN EXPLANATION, we don`t mind answering posts as long as you are obviously making the effort, people who just keep posting and wanting functions and features adding and obviously are not trying get ignored pretty fast.

@all .. don`t start with the "I have been programming soooo long" posts , I can eat most of you for breakfast if you want to go on about how long you have been codeing ,my first (self built) computer was about thirty years ago (and I still suck at programming/graphics/internet/audio/games etc ) lol, I`m just too stupid to give up

Booya...been programming for....one year? two?

Anyway it's still possible to spend several hours daily on a computer and still maintain high gpa's and keep friendly with the teachers and even do something as involving as sports and marching band to boot, I've seen people do it. How? Look at mentor's post. again.

funny guy , I never have been THAT good, now I check it was actualy more like 27 years ago rather than 30 (it just SEEMS a long time)

came in a polystyrene block wrapped in a paper outer, just parts and a circuit board, input in hex and output on a led display, same packaging with my ZX80/81/16k speccy, the 48k speccy and the Vic20 where prebuilt though, sinclair computers where cool, you can make a spectrum from off the shelf parts and get the rom code off the web to make your own fully working 48k spectrum, write your own ROM and you have made your own computer with your own OS, modern kids have it too easy .

It is a simple language. I didn't know anything a while ago, and now I know a good amount. If you're really stuck, use the tutorial, or if you can't find what you're looking for, come to these forums. Everybody is happy to help out if they can, and there is somebody out there who can.

Simple.
