Hey peeps this is my compo entry so far.

This is the storyline:
At 5.00 PM on 12 August a group of terrorists took hostages in a warehouse complex in South America. They threaten to kill them if they don't recieve their demands. They're asking alot and there is no way that the Prime Minister will give in. So, TEAM Firefox is called out to take care of the matter.
Your Objectives:
1. Locate the position of the hostages.
2. Take out anyone who poses a threat to you.
3. Try to stay alive...

You get there by a chopper and then you burst into the room...but nothing is there. Suddenly, you hear a noise going *beep**beep**beep* - Somehow, they knew you were coming...(STOP!!! To see what happens next you gotta play the game. I will release a demo in a few weeks time.)

I've made a site but that's under construction too but for future reference it's http://www.freewebs.com/teamfirefox

Hah, yeah. I saw this on the DeleD boards a few days ago. Very nice work, looks like a well structured level.

Cheers peeps. I just DREAD the other entries because alot of people are using dbpro and dbpro can handle more poly's so their level will look super sweet. I tried darkbasicpro BUT my commands and stuff don't seem to work properly...
However, I'm sure The judge(s) will prefer gameplay over graphics.
Nick.

of course you could try downloading the free compo demo (see the newsletter / Developer's page). DBPro works fine, it just takes a little getting used to if you're a DBClassic user.

Go Go Gadget DBPRO!

It compiles just fine as is. Doesn't do a damn thing, but it compiles and executes.

no set gamma has a bug in it you can only fade to black, use sprites and sptite alpha command works a treat,

also your making gamma a integer then using gamma#, why not just, not make gamma an integer it does nothing in your code

See. I think I'll do just fine with DBC. I know a few tricks with it. Anyway, I made an intro for my mission. Please give feedback on:
GRAPHICS
KOOLNESS
SOUND
MUSIC
SMOOTHNESS
FRAME RATE
It is almost finished. I will:
Change the font.
Put text onto a translucent background
Change resolution to 800 x 600 x 16.
FINISH THE GODDAM INTRO!!

ok tested it,

GRAPHICS 6/10, if you lightmapped the levels that would be a bonus

KOOLNESS 5/10 liked the intro but it took a while to get into the action and operation wolf is meanna be fast paced

SOUND 3/10, you should make the heli rotor sound fade away as it leaves the area, and is he waering a guit or armour those footsteps must be quieter or find a slightly more sane sound

MUSIC O_o, was there any?

SMOOTHNESS you need to implement some sort of time based movement as when i looked at the whole map my walking speed would crawl to a halt

FRAME RATE good in places bad in others

, dont mean to sound harsh but thats my opinion of it, you could allways lower the cmera draw distance and add fog that will make enemys surprise you more aswell as boosting the fps loads, lightmapping the levels would make it look much kewler, the intro is a good idea although i landed on the roof of the complex but still managed to get in,

it has potential, just a few tweaks hear and there and it will be alot more pleasing to play

No you're not harsh darkcoder - your honest. I like that . Yeah the SYNC RATE is set to 100 on that one. In the newer version, the sync rate is 0. There's a bit of music. And I put this command in:

It should make the game a bit quicker. On my pc, it runs at 59 / 78 fps(). Please tell me your pc spec too.
Cheers,
Nick.

Yeah but I can't be scr£wed to and I gotta do more important things like lightmapping my level and improving the game engine . I'll stick to DBC because I've got way more expierence with it than PRO Version. Well as long as i get at least 50 fps ( which I'm gettin 59/ 73) then 'm fine.
Thanks and please tell other people to test my intro/game engine!
Cheers,
Nick.
