Well, here is my attempt at a spin on the snake compo. The idea is simple, you are a cargo hauler / repo man. You retrieve lost cargo pods and bring them back to their owners. There will be many locations that you can go to, which in effect will be the levels. However, it will be open ended, in that you can go to any location at any time, and accept any mission. You'll have to be wary of Pirates and other baddies, they'll let you do all the work of collecting then ambush you and steal your pods!

So far, I only have the movement done and a working model of how the cargo pods work when already collected. No demo just yet, though a couple of you here have tested the movement while in IRC.

Here's some screenies:

Very cool idea, good to see someone making a snake game without a reptile as the main player controlled unit.

nice idea, interesting concept.

the graphics, while obviously very simple for now, look like they will be interesting!

JeBuS, why did you leave source code in that, people can copy you now.

Probably didn't include the media like I thought. Lemme check that.

Yup, that was the problem, when I made a new project, I forgot to re-add the media.

pretty nice... although I felt like there was a little too much momentum on the snake... you have to push back against yourself to get it to slow down enough to make a sharp turn... perhaps increasing the overall friction so it doesn't coast to well might help...

but very pretty snake code so far!

Heh, it's space, there's no friction

I could increase the acceleration speed, which in effect would let you turn in a new direction a bit faster, but I capped the speed so you don't go flying faster than you can see

space... good point.

perhaps giving it a faster acceleration rate, but keeping the velocity capped would be a nice compromise...
