I was wondering : "what are the advantages of getting gmail ?"
I mean, I don't need 1 GB.
Most of the time, when an email is not usefull, I throw it away, and I rarely exceed 1 MB.
Do you keep all the letters you got through post ? I don't, especially not if it's some friend who sends me the last "funny" picture he found on the net.

So what are the real advantages of Gmail ?

I like it becuase I can get original names like DaKotka....

Once the polish get gmail, Kotka wont be availiable as easily.... (Kotka is a polish word, I'm sure some polish, or people who once lived in poland and speak the language, will take over anything with kotka in it.... Assuming they're somewhat like me... )

@Newbie Brogo..um...

I think 1GB will be really usefull, I'm always using my hotmail account to transfer work between PC's and often it means I over use my storage I'm seeing Gmail as a kinda online hard drive.

I've read that for some linux distro, which I forget which one, there's some software written to allow you to MOUNT a gmail account as a HD on your computer

I use my gmail account for sending media/source code snippets to myself that I find/work on during the day.

It's pretty handy to have them always in email. The search facility means I can quickly find exactly what I am looking for. If I keyword the graphics that I send myself then I can easily search on those parameters too.

All in all, gmail is a great way to go and of course it's free.

Everything happens for a reason

i got an e-amil that has 70mb of storage and attachement sizes up to 50mb(unlimited to me for special reasons) ad is completly free
and it is scanned with norton antivirus 2002 updated every week
where is this wonderful service at no other than http://free-space.myftp.org how do i get unlimited space for attachments and storage well i am the webmaster@free-space.myftp.org lol
drawbacks however is not online 100% of the time (about 80% online) and rather slow transfer speed and no in built http e-mail browser type thing and i haven't got a way yet to sign up without an existing e-mail

also while you are at it go ahead and sign up for 55mb of ftp and 5 mb on a website

http://free-space.myftp.org for free ftp
website hosting and e-mail 60mb for ftp/webste 70mb for e-mail

Currently there's absolutely no spam but enjoy it while it lasts because soon it's going to get the 'Hotmail treatment' where spambots just send to random emails such as "CommonName@Gmail.com".

The only ads are the Gmail Context-sensitive ads on the RHS of the screen, they only take up a small amount of space and aren't flashy banners so they're nowhere near as bad as hotmail.

Gmail also has a unique (some may even say innovative) filing system, rather then using folders, emails are assigned 'labels' which you can search and list all of. This is better then folders because an email can have 2 labels, so it can essentially be in 2 folders.

Who wanted to know what Kotka meant? Was it you Curly Brace? Yes... It was...

I suggest you polish your polish (Heh, get it? Polish as in polish gems, and polish as in the language? Heh.... unintended.)

Heh, few people know what Kotka means.... Well, acording to the translator thats what it is.... There is more than one thing for it such as Kot, but Kotka is the one I think is best.

It's Polish, just find a polish translator... but don't tell anyone once you find it...

I assume Damokles means "Wheeeeee" in finnish also?

You could at least finish your finnish sentences! (heh, another joke thing, you know, finish as in finish the race, and finnish the language! woot, i crack myself up)
