Hi!
I am trying to write a hearing tester (audiography??).
f=get sound speed(1) when sound(1), a pure sinewave of 7Hz, is playing gives a value 11000. Setting the sound frequency then by set sound 1,f changes the frequency downwards considerably, instead of leaving it unchanged.
Why? What does sound speed mean??

What 'get sound speed()' is reporting is the sample rate of the recorded sound, not the frequency.

When you use 'set sound speed()', you are setting the replay sample rate. As you are reducing it from 11000 to (I assume) 7000 you are also adjusting the frequency downwards by the same ratio.

Thank you for your reply, IanM. I'm still at a loss as to why, if you ask for the sample rate used, then set it to that value, the freq xhanges! I would have thought it would remain the same.
A bit more explanation in the software would help.

theres a free suite of audio direct x plugins and one of them is a frequency to note converter.

look up " AnalogX "
