If they do it'll take 1 year. Remember, microsofts main idea with the XBOX is to sell the hell out of it with "Name Brand" games. They want people to buy XBOX to play games such as Halo2 and Fable(even though it SUCKS).

Even when it does come onto PC (and if), the minumum specs will be high. They will boost it up to do that. It's another one of Microsofts ploys so people will buy the XBOX and the game so then they get more sales.

I don't think they'll ignore the PC market, but I cannot see them releasing it on the PC for at least 18 months (or more) after the X-Box version ships. It is afterall their only flagship title on the box of greeness.

Well i forgot to mention, i was talking to the local halo tester in my town (search your town, there are alot). Apparently, there will be a "Halo 2 expansion" type thing coming out for Custom Edition.

Supposed to include some maps and models. Not sure about Halo 2 engine being in it though. So you never know what they will do.

After watching the Halo 2 video from E3, I think Bungie needs to do a lot of catching up to compete with HL2. CS Source makes Doom3 and Halo2 look like kiddie toys. And Source is still a beta

Different market though isn't it, the CS Source guys are FPS fanatics imho Halo2 is your pre-teen shooter fest (which I will be looking forward to if they ever release on the PC!)

[off subject]

Source does look nice. Only problem is, they went to far on recoil on almost every weapon. They ruined my M4, even with the silencer its still as jumpy as an AK.

[/off subject]

Now the graphics in Halo 2 personally, i think they aren't what they should be. As for Source making Doom 3 look like my TP after i am done with it, i beg to differ. The problem is, Doom 3 is a dark game, you can not see any of the effects unless you turn the Brightness WAYYYYY up. I happened to do that on this (my 2nd time) through. There are some amazing textures in that game. Problem is, Gameplay can be a bit repetitive sometimes.

As for HL2 having "AW3S0M3ST GRAPH!X 3VA!!", I disagree. I watched through a few of the bink videos and i was impressed with gameplay, but not graphics wise. Although when you look at alot of the amazing stuff you can do (Throw barrels is my favorite. also, some super magnet gun, that can take saw blades and shoot them at enemies impressed me).

So really there is no game outta that takes graphics and gameplay with a running start. I'm sure Halo 2 will have its game play, but not its graphics as some people want.

Just an opinion

I certainly hope they do. I'm not going to get the XBox version as trying to play FPS using a joypad is both unresponsive and inaccurate.

Might be worth petioning Microsoft...

i've order Halo 2 already, but i love Halo so i dont care what the graphics are like, altough i think they're not as good as the xbox could manage. All my friends think they're the best graphics ever, i disagree.

Why do people like Halo? I still can't figure this out. The graphics were sub-par, the gameplay was way too slow, the weapon and monster design was unimaginative, and the level design made me burst out in tears. The story was alright and some of the nicer parts of the game were cool but THERE'S THE SAME F*CKING LEVEL THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE F*CKING GAME! Every other level is either a circular room or a bridge and when it's not it's outside trying to get to another circular room. I just can't fathom why people like Halo I guess for a console FPS it's alright (although there's better out there) but it's kinda embarassing to hear long time PC gamers praising this game when they should know better. Honestly, I would play through Daikatana again than have to play Halo. I guess game design really is going downhill nowadays...

Anyways, back on topic, I think there's a good chance that Microsoft won't release Halo 2 for PC to try and get any fans of the PC version to buy an Xbox. But at the same time Microsoft really needs to keep any fans of the game faithful to prevent them from going to another (and most likely better) game.

There is this kid at school who is a freakin Halo nut! He writes the word halo on his backpack, on his desk, and on his arms! He only talkes about halo, and thinks its the greatest thing ever. Why? Halo has some of the most repeditive levels I have played, I often got lost because I entered a room that looked exactly like the last one. Go play Farcry, thats a good FPS, halo is just a joke.

Guns arnt the problem, people are the problems, shoot all the people and guns arnt a problems anymore.

The storyline was very good, the marines were useful, vechiles are great, and aside from the later levels being repetive, the over game is exciting, fun and great.

While Source is definitely intended for older teens and college students, isn't Halo also? It does have a mature rating, but not like that means much

With Halo's success on the PC, Microsoft would be beyond stupid if they kept Halo 2 from PC gamers. A lot of Halo was repetitive, but it was the good nolstagia repetitive. With the exception of the Library, I enjoyed every level. And besides those who don't like Halo are those who can't beat it on Legendary!

hehe..yeha me and my friend stayed up for so many nights to beat it on legendary...

the video of the elite and the seargent hugging was worth it...lol

thanks for describing what i could not describe

the flood levels aren't really loads of fun...it's just fun after you are done to think.."i survived THAT!!"...

also they did a good job of making the flood annoying/disgusting because after you fight off a horde of them you just get really mad and are like "GET OFF OF ME!!!! YOU SICK THING FROM HELL!!!"

and then you start smacking the dead bodies in anger...

I've never bothered doing that - I only play Halo in multiplayer mode now - whilst it would be nice to see the slightly modified ending, I cant be bothered to go though the game again - some of the later levels were very irritating...

Whilst I would certainly like to see Halo 2 on the PC, I've got a nasty feeling it won't - unfortunately more games are being developed for consoles now than the PC.

One thing I can´t understand about Halo for the pc is why did they increase the dificulty level? I can´t pass the beach level on easy mode! Yet I´ve completed Halo in Legendary mode.(Just before reading that I only had to do the last level, doh!) Which isn´t that hard but a hell of alot of fun.

That's because, on X-box, it takes 15 seconds to turn around(for everyone).
And it's immpossible to aim.
Therefore, everything will happen slowly.
Your just used to it.

Quote: " The storyline was very good, the marines were useful, vechiles are great"

Yeah, the storyline was good and the vehicles were pretty cool for a while. But I didn't think the marines were useful at all because you only got help from them in a few areas when there was so much potential in having a bunch of people helping you.

Quote: "and you like mindless fast pace shooters....
we should all throw it away??"

While I usually prefer faster paced shooters I find nothing wrong with the slow ones so long as they're playable. I prefer playing my favorite FPS, Shogo, with a game speed probably about equal to Halo but becasue of the balance with Shogo's weapons and the tractor beam it's actually fun unlike Halo where it was just boring and frustrating trying to move from one area to another.

Quote: "listen just because you don't like this game doesn't mean it sucks"

I don't like FarCry but I don't think it sucks, same with Painkiller and a bunch of other games.

Quote: "OMG....you say halo is a joke yet you don't say anything about farcry being the biggest joke ever?

Ummmm... FarCry is actually a pretty open-ended game that allows you to use strategy and stealth to accomplish your goals. There is usually more than one way to do stuff (eg. you can push a barrel down a hill to kill some enemies or you can snipe them, throw a grenade at them, or just ignore them completely and continue on) which is something most games lack.

Also, when I said "people should know better" I meant that most people seemed to just go along with the trend. They would praise the graphics but the graphics weren't that good, they weren't bad but they weren't anything to rave about. But the biggest problem I felt was the gameplay, aren't games supposed to be fun? For me Halo felt literally like a chore, I only played it so I could get rid of it (I've finished every FPS I've started). Games aren't supposed to be like that. Now, sure, maybe some of my statments are opinions but I've been playing first person shooters for over 10 years (since Catacomb Abyss and Wolfenstein) and I've played a very large portion of them so I would say that my opinion has some bearing seeing I've experienced everything that can make or break a game. I just can't find any reason to endorse this game.

ok so you are different....i can understand you not liking halo but the whole thing of "they should know better" made it sound like you thought we should like what you like..

i don't like halo because it's mainstream...i had no idea that it was mainstream the first time i played it, yet i loved it.

in all the other areas of my life i try to NOT be mainstream...so don't say that everybody who likes halo is just "going with the flow"...

Why do so many people here not like Halo here? It´s a great game, certanly better than Farcry. That things just a bloody tech demo.
Then again I can´t stand playing fps on my own anyway. Multiplayer all the way for me! Though I tend to play co op more than ummm...the other type thing...anti co op?. When we beat the ai it´s a win-win situation as the ai doesn´t care if it loses.

i like halo. it's in my top list of favorite games but it's not number one. the only thing i don't like is that you need a 1MBit connection for the multiplayer to be any kind of fun. even on my 256k it's a joke. i'm walking and suddenly i find myself 10 yards away! and then it kicks me off cause i don't have a fast enough connection.

OK enough of that damn DBP fanboy banner. i'm NOT a DBP fanboy in any way. i haven't used DBP in over a year, and i don't really plan on using it again.

I dont believe people can say Halo is better than Farcry! Farcry is one of the best FPS titles on the market right now, it has gorgeouse visuals, wide open levels, smart AI, terrific level design, and awsome sound. Unlike Halo, where it looks like the devs just copyied and pasted a bunch of prefabs around their level, farcry's levels never seem repeditive, each level in Farcry is completely different, it also takes a break from the conventionaly dungeon shooter, and instead places you on the most beautiful places on earth, while symbolizing how beauty can be corrupted by mans will to grow powerful. Halo is the joke, on consoles its meerly ok, on PC its barely acceptable, I think Battlefield 1942 offers more inovation than Halo, tell me one thing in Halo that makes it innovative?

Guns arnt the problem, people are the problems, shoot all the people and guns arnt a problems anymore.

Just adding to this...

I believe Bungie did say, as agreeing with whoever said it earlier.. that they have no intention whatsoever of porting it to the pc. One of the reasons for this in my eyes is that because the xbox 2 is coming out fairly soon, they want to have the last go at the best game for the xbox.. And leave it as a game to be remembered and played on it.

Anyways.. Halo is my definately one of my favorite games.. Nothing feels better then beatin the crap outta my friends on multiplayer and sniping them down. Some of the levels do seem very repetitive, but who cares.. it's not about the levels, it's about those tiny dudes that say, "Uh oh, they're coming!" and such..

Painkiller.. Well i have that game.. and if any game seems repetitive it's that one. Ok, sure you get long levels and stuff.. but with the same guys coming at you over and over again you dont end up paying attention to the levels really.

I know that another game i really enjoy is Planetside. You can do anything in it, drive a ground vehicle, air vehicle, special vehicles.. train to be an engineer, medic, special assaultist, sniper.. there's a lot. The only downside to this is having to pay monthly of course..

But paying for it is alright with me, the amount of patches and changes they make to the game makes it feel like a new one almost every month, if not every two. If anyone decides to try this game out.. I must warn you, dying is a very common thing in that game.

There's my 8 cents.. who's paying me?

The stickybombs are pretty innovative, as is the really good co-op mode (a lot of other games co-op modes are cut-down). That's what really sold the XBox for me, I always prefer co-op games. It's easy to see how PC gamers can scoff at Halo, because most of it is old news, but certainly not on consoles.

Just thought i would clear the whole thing up for people.

Any xbox game will never be graphically as good as a pc game. FACT.
xbox and any console games usually run better than pc games (in most cases) because the games that go onto a console are designed for 1 spec only, games on pc's have to consider both low end and high end pc's.

In regards to will halo 2 be on pc....

i Quote off the bungie website..."Halo 2 is being made for the Xbox only at this time" so we just don't know. The answer is probably yes! It will probably be released with suped up graphics, more levels, more content and a general make over.

And no matter how much people hate microsoft and think they dominate the market, you cannot deny that the xbox is the best console out there. The specs beat all other consols, it is well made, reliable and it is now real cheap!

I have to congratulate microsoft for taking consideration into what their customers want for a change!

i didn't say they weren't better!

Plus i don't just go on how good the graphics are, i mean FarCry, yea good game but i found it so boring. That to me doesn't make a good game. A good game to me is getting me to play on it for hours on end, then come back to it again and again. Even if i do the same thing over and over again on the game. I couldn't care less about amazing graphics, i mean if i am running about and shooting someone, i don't take the time to stop and admire the wall for its amazing graphics!

whatch microsoft come out with a new os that will be the min specs for halo 2 so that is is rather buy anm x-box or an os(cheap marketing) or to where microsoft comes out with new pc parts that will be the min specs

anyway halo 2 is bound to have super high specs like 128mb graphics card MIN and 256mb reccomened and 2.0ghz cpu's and 4gb for it and 512mb ram i know halo requires slightly jhigh specs already(64mb graphics card for it to even look good 32mb min) and it will run at about mid performance settings on my pc fine but i up any of them and it will just start to slow down and get slow draw rates

I believe the PS2 dominates the Xbox. Even if the Xbox has better specs, the PS2 has the superior games. I really don't care how good the Xbox looks because it doesn't matter if the games are no fun. And why get Halo on the Xbox when you can play it online for FREE on the pc?

Xbox also has a bad habit of saying "Only on Xbox", when the reality is "Only on Xbox... for 1 week". Halo 2 will go PC, its a simple financial decision.

Me and this kid almost got into a fist fight over which has better graphics, my Alienware area 51, or his Xbox, I knew there was no argument there, the PC kicks the box's ass in almost every catagory, but he wasnt listening, I told him that I can play online games for free, while he has to pay a subscription to Xbox live, he said "well you have to pay for it, that makes it better!" HA! I told him "They even had to scale down Doom 3 to go to the Xbox, and it looks crappy now with choopy FPS" he says "Thats because its not out yet", I told him "Xbox has a low resolution", he says "Thats because Xbox doesnt need a high res because its so good" HA. Some people are just stupid and ignorant.

Your Alienware Area 51 costs $3000.
And X-box costs $150.
Why would the X-box be better at anything when compared to the Alienware?

In regards to graphics, sure, the Xbox might be the best but give me a PS2 or Gamecube over an Xbox anyday. I presonally find the selection much better plus many games for Xbox also come out for PC or PS2 giving me no reason to get an Xbox.

"The stickybombs are pretty innovative"

actually i had fun with the stickybombs in perfect dark long before halo came out i love the MP in perfect dark.

haha major payn, the funny thing is, my friend recently built a computer with the same parts of one of the top-of-the-line alienware comps and did it for about $1000 less than you paid. making your computer yourself is the only way to go oh no, you don't get support... man i really wish i had a number to call so i could talk to someone in india who tells me to format!

OK enough of that damn DBP fanboy banner. i'm NOT a DBP fanboy in any way. i haven't used DBP in over a year, and i don't really plan on using it again.

Because it appeals to their personal tastes.

You guys are picky. I like all the games that people have dissed here.
Halo
FarCry
Doom3
etc.
etc.

Yea ok they do, but wouldn't you much rather play on a system that can handle the game much better than the ps2. I mean yea the ps2 has loads of games for it, but the majority of good games comeout on the xbox and gamecube anyway. I mean don't think i am biased because i have all the consoles, lol. My point is, if you bought doom 3 wouldn't you much rather play it on a high spec machine rather than a low one? Same for ps2, why play on a system that is lowspec? Not having a go at the ps2, i mean they did sort of set a standard in gaming systems

Its not a bug, Its a feature

If we were meant to stay in this reality games would not exist!

In a lot of areas, the Dreamcast is a better machine than the PS2, like graphics memory for instance, the DC has twice as much gfx memory than the PS2.

There are no games being released on PS2 only, any game released on PS2 will also be released on XBox bar a few exceptions - but XBox has several Box-only games, like Halo/2, Doom3, HL2, PS2 simply will never have games as advanced as these. It's funny how many PS2 rules friends I used to have, now everyone has an XBox.

Frankly, the annoying things for me is how publishers think that a direct PS2 port onto XBox is acceptable, so unfortunately a lot of PS2 and XBox games are pretty identical, that's why Halo looks so good compared to them.

although halo is on the PC i find the PC version nearly useless

one of the things i like best about halo is the co-op mode...

you can go kick alien butt with your friend! and you both feel like you won when you are done...

also the grunts are another reason to play halo...they say so many funny things...

I.E. "I get his helmet!!"
