Its not a pretty editor with lots of features but it does its job. You can paste the tile image to the screen or you can apply it to the screen as a sprite. One Downside is that I use save and load array so there are 4 or 5 small (2-8kb) files per map. Other than that it works pretty good. Oh and this code is yours to tweak or whatever but credit would be nice.

I have put a small amount of remarks and included 2 readmes but if you have any questions email me or post here. Email is [email protected]

Oh and one more thing... Like I said above it doesnt have features and stuff but if you can explain some features that would be cool, email me or post below. So in other words dont say oh it needs more features and then not mention one.

Heres a screen shot of a map I made in the editor with Map info hidden.

Heres the same map above in the Tile map viewer

They both do the same thing but the DBP version works a little bit better.

I hope he doesnt mind but I think 9 or so of the images included are from Zero blitz's Tile editor.

@ Phaelex
<- and -> arrow keys or
0-9 to select the first 10 tiles
It has a crummy read me that explains which keys do what.

You can change the grid to any color you want by loading the bmp image "background" found in the sprite folder into paint. You can also hide the grid by hitting H and then if you want to toggle it back on hit G

i have a much better editor coming out

tip: use make memblock from array to make the array smaller+faster to load cause load array suks in dbpro. plus use strings to hold tiles so you only render tiles you are using

last but not least: I always use 32x32 blocks and create a memblock about 1.1m and just store the tiles there and write them to a file

I have DBP 5.7 and WinXP Pro. I tried to use the tile map editor but the program locked up my computer twice. This happens after I turned on "Show Info" and after trying to load the map file after saving it.

This weekend I will post a more updated editor. I just tried to recreate your error in it and I couldnt, so hopefully it will work fine on yours too.

Skeletor, you should write a tutorial on how to write a tile editor.
