Well in this age of technology, crime, young people and a lack of money people think its ok to have warez. Now to those people with little or no money getting 3dsMax or DBPRO for free is nothing however to those developers of the software its like stealing a porsche from a garage.

Im mentioning this because of the actions of a member of the forum. Sk8rBoy. i was speaking to him on MSN and tested his integrety.. i wanted to see if he wanted to make a MMORPG... well i then plyaed with him and couldnt resist myself... he asked me for.. well read it yourself

To be honest, that was kind of sneaky. Stop taking it out on him just cos of his name. People have to learn what's wrong and what's right. Not like he's dealing in illegal software and making money from it, in fact, where's the proof he actually owns any illegal software?

Isn't it? Wasn't it? Marvellous!

sk8erboy - don't worry about it, I'm not sure which is worse, asking for some warez (which, let's face it, EVERYONE has) or Powersoft potentially impersonating me

I won't lie; I've pirated mIRC. Rich is right, everyone does it at least once, at least in this day and age. I also started downloading full games and apps, but then I read an article on this guy who got caught and fined a lot of money (way in the thousands) so I deleted everything I downloaded.

Summary: I warezed'd, deleted all but one game/app

Doing it leaves a bad taste in your mouth afterwards, if you know what I mean.

Edit: I wouldn't really even call it pirating, I just downloaded free trials and entered registration keys. I don't know if that is considered priating or not.

Come to #coding. We promise we wont kick you!

That was sneaky of you, although hopefully sK8rBoY learned a little bit of a lesson.

Sneaky, yes. Powersoft, keep in mind that while you may have been right, it doesn't ultimatly justify "testing" people. 99.9% of people have warezed at one point or another... I have, and don't anymore (hell, I don't even abandonware anymore). It's best to try to just talk to them .

sk8erboy, I trust Powersoft and really don't think he would make this up. Not only that, but your two responses contradict one another...

actually isn't that what they call entrapment? by assuming a role of the warez guy then saying i will give you these warez, and he said yeah ok sure , he never really asked for it, he just wanted teh c0dez, you basically shoved the warez down his throat an dhe thought well ok if you're just gonna give it. who says in teh long run he would have taken it? confession isn't worth crap, for i coul dconfess that I am really elvis presly, thats no true at all. an dhe could claim he was seeing if you were legitimate in your pirating software so that he could warn rich. I'm basically saying you have no case.

he ha sno case no where, he hasn't gotten illegal software, anyone could stop him from getting into trouble, especially if he used the excuse saying he was seeing if this guy was pirating software to dob him in.

to me it sounded like he wanted it just so power would stop shoving it down his throat^_^ Sounded like he said yes just so he could get to the point that he wanted teh codez..

Besides, this isn't 1st grade, nobody likes a tattletale.. if he's unworthy then his actions will speak for itself in the long run.

Uberwigget is right, you have basically forced your fake warez on the poor kid. He even steers the subject back to "gimmie teh codez" which is his real interest on MSN. You have forcably made him say what he would like to get his hands on.

C'mon Powersoft, that really is low. Sk8rboy is obviously a kid who is quite nieve in the ways of the web. Notice how (almost) everyone else commenting on this subject is wise enough to talk about warez in the past tense; "I used to,....", ",...I don't anymore.". If you believe that then you're as nieve as sk8rboy. I'm not saying everyone is a pirate, I'm sure there are a few perfect beings out there, but if someone came to you offering a free porsce, no questions asked, you would have to be a saint not to consider it.

I've watched this poor kid get hassled since the first day he set foot in these forums, by "holier than thou" true elitists, making fun of his grammer and text. What kind of impression do you think that gives, not only to him but to other kids like him? As Mouse said; guidence is what he should recieve, not ridicule and entrapment. It's oh so brave to pray on the weak and the uninformed. I hope the vultures in this forum feel ashamed of themselves.

Oh, by the way, I have never pirated any software ever, honest guvnor......Pah!

My Sig is actually quite appropriate. Run Sk8rboy run!

It really annoys me when people play this card. Believe it or not, but not 'just about everyone' pirates. This is often brought up as an excuse for the act, but it's completely untrue. If the majority of people do pirate, it's a very slim one; a good deal of people do for a while before they seriously consider the value of the act, or until they get a decent income, and then stop. You're just kidding yourself if you assume anyone who says they don't pirate is just trying to hide it.

Nobody's perfect, some people are more perfect in some areas than others. While a person may not pirate software they may steal candybars from convenience stores.

Looks like sk8erboy got ware-dealer pressure rammed up his back end.

It's easy to disregard piracy, look down on it, etc etc etc. But at the end of the day, a lot of the OS your sitting using right now is pirated, Gates basically helped himself to a lot, some would call him the biggest pirate of them all. If he can get away with it, it's hard to point the finger at school kids swapping MP3's or people copying DVD's for their mates. If the publishers could proove that the recipient would have purchased it then I'd say fair enough, but they can't because most people who have access to pirate media will still buy stuff that they think is worth the money. Hell, I can get any X-Box game I want for the price of a DVD-R, but I still spend about £100 a month on games. Either I'm daft, or I see piracy as a way to get hold of crap that you don't really care about getting.

If all piracy was wiped out, publishers would have to think of another excuse to charge £15 for a CD that costs pirates 20p to reproduce. Some bands spend time on their CD packaging, and it is worth having legitimate collections, but perhaps nowadays music is as disposable as the people creating it - burn it to a disc and play it for a month or so, then forget about it - if the band sticks around, then go and buy their CD's. I'm not at all sorry if that's not to the record companies liking, but really - what can they do?.

Did'nt Coca-Cola do that very successfully in the 60's?

If they thought they'd get away with it, they probably would.

My disliking for music publishers might stem from my hatred of pop music, or the fact that all my favourite bands have had problems with them - but everyone knows they're the scum of the earth .

Hehe, I love those adverts though, the anti-piracy campaign .

Piracy equates to lower quality.
Piracy will destroy the record industry (yippee when?).
Piracy funds terrorism.
Piracy will eat your children.

That's just innacurate, in most cases I think they'd find that piracy funds friday night drinking sessions more than anything else .

Yeah the lie about all of those. Although it would be nice to kill the record industry thus leaving the damned crappy bands who can't make it on they're own, out on the street.

Although it may eat your children, I have not checked that one yet.

To be quite honest, while many popular bands are absolutely awful, your average band that doesn't have a record label is even worse. The music industry isn't nice, but a lot of good artists would be hurt very badly by its collapse.

If I were to make music (WHICH I VERY WELL COULD) I wouldn't be doing it for the money, because I would rather people listen to what I have to say. Kinda like Michael Moore, except without the beard

and the lies.

Off topic, but funny: My local college (and the one I'm about to attend) was going to pay Mr. Moore $40,000 to come speak. But then enough parents and students protested that they bumped him and are having Shaun Hannity come instead. And he waived his fee, because he gets to replace the bearded demon. Isn't that awesome?

Score one for humanity.

That is awesome Jimmy ...

That's true about making music, but you've gotta make a living too. If people pay to hear your music, then you can spend more time working with it because you don't have to have a job on the side... it all comes full circle.

It was... sort of. Recording a band can be rather nerve-racking at times. The last thing I did was jingle productions (radio/commercials) and post-productions. Less tedious but it becomes dull and boring after a while.

My name is Rich yes.

My actions can not being excused for. However i would like to point out a few things...

There has been alot of people on the forum who think that warez etc is ok,spam etc.etc.

so, having seen his posts and wondering is this Z, is this one of his aliases? i decided to investigate...

now if the mentioned reciprocate of the "entrapment" was perfectly legal sane etc.. he would have done a few things
o tell me that warez is illegal and i shouldnt be doing it etc.
o not ask for dbpro
o would reliase dbpro wasnt out 3 years ago
o tell me spamming is bad
o not encourage me to do warez "hey, well done"
o not LIE and say he only asked for models... if he didnt ask and is legal surely he has nothing to hide?

And as for me telling tales. Crime doesnt pay..... (unless you get away with it)

Cheers,
Rich

[edit]
notice how he goes
"thats not me"

then on thew next post replies
"i only asked for models"
