Heh, unlike Valve, a leak isn't going to delay their release.

See, Microsoft didn't leak it intentionally.

It could be anyone in the development company, anyone in the publisher who has access to the gold copy digital tape, anyone in the publisher who has access to the final CDs, anyone in localization with access to the files, or anyone from any of the distributers with access. There are hundreds if not thousands of people who have access before it hits stores, and it's impossible to keep it secure.

Ah who cares anyone who downloads it can't play it on-line, can't play it on an un-modded X-Box and has to watch all the cut-scenes and listen to all the voice-overs in French!

Personally I can't think of a worse turn-off.

Good point

+ Which fool can't raise £35 (Special Edition on Amazon.co.uk (if your in the US I bet you can get it just as cheap)) so they risk getting a HUGE court-case against Microsoft. They will never be allowed within 3000 m of any electrical equipement (hacker scum) and will have a fine so large that 6 zillion versions of the game could be bought. Also they will have to work in slave labour to pay it off...

True it is over-rated but it plays so well (I think it does, and I do play a lot of games, some better than Halo), i think that you have to let it grow on you, then you will see the better points.

I was preparing to defend myself after I made that comment

Ya Halo is a good game but its not the best like everyone makes it sound to be, I guess thats what ruined it a bit for me. Anyhow I plan on picking Halo 2 up after Christmas... saving the rest of my cash for Everquest 2 0_o .

Here's your FLAME!!
Just kidding.

I just got back from 6 1/2 hours of Halo lan. The single player gets dull, but that's why you set up lan parties, multiplayer does not get old for me. The reason why it is so over rated is because people who rarely play games are playing it (that's probably why all the hardcore people don't like it). It attracted a massive audience, so it's getting a lot of attention.
Of course I couldn't stand playing it for several hours a week, I'd get so sick of it, but I'll play a lot of it for a little bit, then move on to some other game. I'll come back in a little while and I'll still get a kick out of it, and that's what retained the "fun" for me.

Personally I thought Halo was an amazing game. I don't (and never will) own an X-Box, but on the PC it was superb. The story-line was interesting, the way it lead you into the game superb. The fact that just as you are thinking "hmmm, this is getting boring" they totally change the scene and you're driving around in a Warthog all of a sudden. Graphically great, the little aliens make the best noises ever ("we're hereeeee..." and my favourite, when you stick a grenade on one of them "get it off! noo, noooooo" (boom)).

It is one of a VERY small number of PC games that I've played from start to end and enjoyed every moment of. I don't think it's over-rated, it's just a bloody good game. If they concentrate on multi-player too much in Halo 2 and ignore the story it will be the games un-doing.

Cheers,

Rich

Halo was a great game, both for pc and for xbox(i own both versions).. I hear halo 2's storyline(from bungie) will be pretty well done, and about just as complete in length as the first halo.

The three coolest things i'm looking forward to(besides storyline) being implemented are... A) Throwing guys off vehicles and stealing them
B) Dual Wielding
C) Blade combat

I don's see what the big deal is, I mean it's not like alot of people are going to be able to get this leaked copy, after all it's an Xbox game, unless you have an Xbox emulator or something, your going to need to burn it on to a Xbox compatible DVD and then play it, and even then it might not work properly, if it was a PC game, it would be a different story.

Guns arnt the problem, people are the problems, shoot all the people and guns arnt a problems anymore.

halo was fun multiplayer, an dhopefgully they wont take out bloodgultch in halo 2, btu as for single player it wasnt really as evolved as they made it out to be. Halo and halo 2 are hype games, just m$ throwing money to make more money. I will get halo 2 for xbox cause the insurance is giving me an xbox with 4 games plus the live starter kit, so may aswell get halo 2 for its multiplayer, but im not hanging out to play its single player after playing halo 1. I mean i laughed so hard when i watched the first e3 showing, when the master handkerchief got on a mg that was attached to some sandbags, and all teh nerds were screaming and yelling woo at the top of their lungs, i mean come on guys half life 1 had sandbag mg's, christ you have portable mg's in day of defeat what is so special about it in halo? its just a warthog that doesn't move! man m$ nerds baffle me sometimes

And this is not a test. This is an Eyes Only Streaming Freedom Video. This cable hack cannot be traced, it cannot be stopped...and it is the only free voice left in this city...

I really miss Dark Angel!

For some reason I doubt they will get anywhere in this case. Who from the underground would even care to assist microsoft in crime solving when half of the guys in the underground are already committing crime anyway?

Teehee, once my friend and I were playing coop on Pillar of Autumn legendary and we both threw a plasma grenade on a grunt at the same time. It jumped in the air and shreaked, "Oh no! Not again!" then ran toward the nearest elite.

i never really got to hear the voices over the blasting sounds of the warthog mounted mg. But context sensitive enemies aren't anything new, just a funky novelty. I forgot to mention that i found heaps of links on xbconnect for the game, and some people were hosting multiplayer matches for it, so yes you can actually play it on a modded box multiplayer. (and no even though im a pirate I didn't download it, for one its in french, and also its 2.8 gig from a foreign site so that i can look at it and go wow, wish i had a dvd burner with software capable of burning dvd9 format. not that i couldnt have copied it across to the hard drive, but it wasnt worth it. ) I do look forward to seeing what they have done with single player, hopefully made a decent story/gameplay system. but i don't expect much from multiplayer, was fine multiplayer on the pc. and i swear if they remove bloodgultch (the only decent map, infact its a damn fine map) i will have to blow up bungie.

One thing, most XBox mod chips are controlled by the power switch, switch on and it's a normal X-Box, hold the power button longer and the chip is started too.

Who are "they" that claimed it was evolved? I don't consider it evolved, it's just an FPS action game, but it is one the best examples of an FPS action game I've ever seen. You can really see where MSs millions were spent on QA IMHO, balancing the game just right. At the end of the day it's all down to a "personal" thing, but I loved Halo and finished it happily, hell I'd replay it again if I had the time. I never bothered finishing Half-Life though. Good, yes, but not enough to make me want to actually get to the end.

A game has to be very good to make it onto my PC. But it has to be incredibly good to make me complete it. So few manage this part. Hats off to any game that does.

Halo is pretty compelling, yet I've never completed it on single player - only co-op on the XBox, I suppose I should really try the single player mode. Personally I think it's the best 2-player game ever made - my one complaint is the sameyness of the levels, but given the scale of the game it's understandable that they'd re-use levels and media. Hell the last thing we want is a smaller game, I'd go and spend £40 on 'Halo with some new levels' right now if it was available - maybe that's something Bungie should consider - like mission packs.

Does it count if the game closes after 5 seconds with a message box saying you've completed it?

On a slightly related note, season three of Red vs Blue has started. While I don't play Halo or too many other action games since my reflex time is lame, I do enjoy the spin-offs.

Same here. The last full game I've ever completed was the original Halo on Xbox. While I liked Half-Life, I didn't really care to finish it--- this is the case for 99.9% of the games I own.

Completed it on co-op on every difficulty incl' legendary - It's just how I like my games, I tend not to play that many solo games, but I've completed every co-op FPS on the X-Box.

If you've got someone reliable to play games with, FPS games on XBox are ideal - I'd recommend...

Wolfy's good but you can't save your progress on 2 player mode - MOH Rising Sun is great for co-op, about as close as you can get to a PC style war FPS.

Good? I'm GREAT! Oh.. you weren't talking about me.

Halo rocked! When I first purchased it, I couldn't get into the game. About a year later, I started playing multiplayer with some other people. That made me interested enough to try out single player again. Then I couldn't put it down.

I'll second Vans recommendation for Timesplitters 2! Finished that on the PS2, along with Timesplitters 1 in co-op mode with my wife. We also finished SSX, SSX Tricky, SSX 3 and all the Baldurs Gate games on the PS2 I guess the SSX titles aren't co-op, just 2-player, but still, they rock!

I never liked Halo. Thought it was boring, Co-Op is stupid. Once one person dies you have to start from a point again. Halo is just a over hype FPS game with not that great options.I could shoot the tanks tires till you die then the tank would flip over for no reason. Big deal Halo 2 leaked. It will most likely be a crappy FPS any way.

What are you smoking?

The way it worked was once one person died they couldn't respond until the remaining player had either removed all the enemies or ran away to a previous location without any enemies, then the player that died would respond with default weapons. You only had to restart at the last save point if both characters died.

I'm going to laugh when you come back and say you were wrong about Halo 2.
