What do people think is the best approach to creating a chat bubble for a 3D RPG game. Should I be using a sprite or a textured plain? If it is to be used in a MORPG, would I be best using a sprite because if I use a plain I am under the confusion that although it might appear flat to 1 player, it might appear at an angle to another with it being a 3d object? Any thoughts?

I think a textured plain that you point at the camera would look really cool.. Then it would follow the character.

Maybe if you make the plain and set its center point to the point of the bubble then you can glue it to a hidden limb on the character?

Yeah I know that would look cool, but if we are standing at 90 degrees to one another then won't a plain look flat to me and rotated to you? meaning that you wouldn't be able to read the msg unless u were standing opposite me?

Just make it so that the plain is always facing the player of the game. If you are going for multiplayer, just always check the rotations of chat bubbles and update them so that the player can read them.
