heres a simple and mostly finished game that I spun up while trying to write something that needed no media and looked reasonable, this was an atttempt to write a game that used no on disk media (it makes all it`s own gfx etc) the only problem was I couldn`t get the sound from memblock commands to give me any decent results, after playing this you will realise why I avoid posting games , due to the sound problems it has no in game sounds (you could add those, just open the source button and cut and paste the code into DB Pro and run, you can use any of the ideas etc in the code as you wish. cheers.

and links to some EXE`s kindly donated by Custard, thank you for taking the trouble.

I think you're being too modest, its really well done, especially for a game which requires no media. Even with the instructions it took me a while to figure out what was going on though, by which time it was too late

Very nice job Mentor.

You may also want to check out another great media free game here.
(Might be able to get the sound working. )

Have to say this is better than many games with media.

I don't get it. Why do people make media-free games when you can include your media in the .exe file? It makes no sense.

Because if you can do it without external media, why not do it without external media. It makes no sense if you make it with external media, when u can do it without external media.

@Evil Monkey: AH! I am sooo stupid, of course! you can just download the 7.5mb exe from a server site I don`t have and can`t afford , in a fraction of the time it takes to cut and paste the code into the DB editor and compile it, silly me <slaps self around face>

@MikeS: thanks, I will check that out

Mentor.

[EDIT] Mike S... I checked the post but I could already code tones and square/sawtooth waves, what I was after was reshaped white noise that sounded reasonably like an explosion, no luck, will keep trying.

sorry, I have nowhere to put an exe file, thats the reason I uploaded it as source, maybe someone would compile it for you or you could download the Pro demo?, like I said 7.5mb is a long download for a small game and i don`t have any webspace that permits downloading (it doesn`t permit anything according to the readme, no linking, no downloadable files, no images, etc etc).

Nice work. Looks great considering no external media

It wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a few Mini media free compos throughout the year. It would be interesting to see what people could achieve.

EXE’s of Mentor’s game:

1.35 meg RAR
http://www.custarddb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/downloads/mentors_media_free_bomber.rar

3.11 meg ZIP
http://www.custarddb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/downloads/mentors_media_free_bomber.zip

If you want to put the links in your post ill delete the above. People may not scroll down this far if they don’t have pro.

EDIT links should work now

Currently re-writing the game and re-doing sprites for 800x600 (was 640x480). This game will get a release soon.

I like it. Even though it got no media it's still a good game.
