Whether or not there will be another one, will depend on whether there is an official one, and/or whether anyone else wants to provide such a valuable service to the communitity.

The overall bill comes to :

around £400 for room & food for 2 days
around £50 for the network switch
around £400 for laptop hire.

You do seem to have a talent for making irrelevant and pointless posts N30FISH.

@TCA, didn't everyone pay up then? I thought it was £60 each. As there was 14 of us present that makes £60 x 14 = £840. So you're out by a tenner. We could all give you 1/14th of the tenner if you'd like?

I speak personally here but if the total bill exceeded the equal contributions we all made, then I am very happy to make up my share of the difference.

Cheers

Philip

Yes - I said it came closer than last time - didn't say it met the total! The difference is small, so its not worth worrying about.

Next time though, I'll have to charge extra for Paypal payment as they take a cut (which didn't help).

Oh ok. In the meantime, I can't help noticing that some people have been asking where I was in the pictures already posted. Apparently nobody could see a pic-a-nic basket obsessed hat and tie wearing bear.

Is everyone blind? Honestly! Anyway, to put it beyond doubt, take a look at the attached zip file. (With my thanks to TCA and Giff for their photos).

Cheers

Nice work Philip on the photos not sure how you managed to get a shot of so many laptops without any of them playing UT2004 Also looks like myself, mnem & GM have finally been exposed.

Bah whos going to pay for my Post Conference Traumatic Stress Syndrome as I've been asleep half the day & I'm wide awake at 1am.

@TCA I think it was well worth the cash after all the cost of the conf was minor compared to my room & bar bill. Learnt a lot as well in our fringe (read as bar) meetings from the other guys there, although I still can't remember why Quantum Relativity was being discussed at 3am.

ARCH!!! nooooooo

yeh anyway- i just this sec got back- yes, its tuesday 16:40

friday: visitted my old area in coventry and had a turkish takeaway, then went to the sattion, where darth crept up on my and said "boo" which in his native language sounds like "hi" i didnt recognise him at first and thought he was a tramp asking for the time (j/k).

we caught the train that was meant to arrive an hour b4 the one we hoped to get, but was running an hour late so got that one, while the train we were meant to get was far from sight.
2 hrs of the journey were spent standing up amongst 10 other men between 2 crriages where we were all falling on top of each other as if we'd been on the piss. finally we managed to sit down, and darth wihpped out his laptop and asked what he should make for a 20 liner.

i made a few jokes but i dont think he found them funny, things like being chased by a train with men on board firing uzis at ye, n other train related stuff. the train we were on seemed to have dried out my inspiration for non-train things. so i finally thought serius for a sec (this time having to think long and hard) until i finally came up with an idea. by the time we reached southhampton an hour later he'd done what i'd have done in 2 days, i "wow"-ed constantly through his work. then got train from southhampton to chichester, got off at midnight, and found ourselves walking amongst drunken mobs. finally arrives at the hotel, and everyone was gone.

i'd forgotten the name of the nearby b&b me and mnem were meant to be staying, and hoped everyone hadnt gone to bed. we stayed up another hour when finally at the door a load of people arrived, who i instanly recognised (especially ravey and mike, since for my compo entry i had to study his photo for hours on end).

turned out they'd all gone out clubbing, and lee was what i thought at the time, drunk- when i soon realised that was him being normal. ravey was throwing up in the toilets and deepblue reminded me where mnem was staying, but he didnt turn up at the hotel so i had to go find the b&b myself.

finally arrived at the nags head and found it was emtpy and all the lights were out, by now it was raining so i went back to the ship hotel and sneaked up to darths room to sleep on the floor.

Saturday: woken up to darths funkey ringtone, realised i'd forgotten my comb+towels (hence my haiur was a mess all weekend (hence screaming at the photo))

robk gave a talk on his GUI, we played unreal while waiting for lee to wake up. never happened.... so ravey and mike showed off the particle and cloth stuff... and its convinced me that TGC has actually been working (this is probably were TGC start smirking and head off back to the pub)

went to b&b to drop off my stuff and pay, came back dripping wet to find phil giving his talk on copyright law and lee wide awake (wowzers)

lee gave 3 hour talk on FPS creator, then we went to KFC and then lee gave another 2 hr talk about whats under FPSC's bonnet.
then sat in bar from 11 till 3am

Sunday: woken up when a cleaner busts into the room at 10am... realise the time and head off to the ship hotel... mnem arrives 2 hrs later. (yes- me and menm slept in different beds... i dont- and i dont think mnem does either- swing that way)

went out at 2 for a LARGE jacket potato and milkshake, returned to the ship and immidiately headed for toilets straight away, where the lights went out and left me wiping my ars in the pitch black... was expecting a demon or something to bust thru the cubical door and knife me, and all i'd see would be the red glow in his eyes... like in the movies...

a few hours later we noticed the place was getting empty, so the few of us remaining packed up.
sat idle for a while, and then finally lee woke up. after returning equipment to TCA's house and getting attacked by his dog, lee took us for teh food, which was funded by britains tax payers some how. felt great to be given something in return for a change. i had teh fish und frites while we discussed what we thought of the irish waitress. then went to bar staying up till 4, although i was falling sleep by 2, and decided to join nearby card players, who played a really crap game... where u had to put a card down higher than the one before... it was made interesting by the fact the cards all had naked women on them.

joined the convo again... fell asleep and had a 2 second dream b4 thinking "im in a pub, not in this imaginary place" and woke up to find mike and carl laughing at me... shame cos it coulda been a good dream too. fell asleep again and found my arms and the table were covered in drool.... ewwwwww i never drooled so hard. spent that night in the ship hotel and finally had a shower, still not combed my hair, picked up my pc from the honourary TGC bedroom and headed off. couldnt keep the pc in my room cos even though there was a lift to my floor, i still had to go up 5 stairs, down 5, up 5, down 1, up 20 to get to my room.

its a shame when u meet such a great group of people and leave knowing you wont see them again for another year

We did make a point that further testing should be performed on products before being released - so hopefully something will come of that.

I think next time (if there is one), I might have to find a place where the nearest pub is 10 miles away though...

If there is a Con next year, and I am able to attend, then I may talk on companies: how to incorporate them, how much it costs, what the benefits are, etc.

This is a subject most people know little about. Yet if you want to sell games safely, despite the tax disadvantage, you are best doing it through a company... and a company can be created for as little as GBP 20.

But I stress the IFs and the maybes above. Lots of hypotheticals here.

Cheers

Philip, why wait until next year? Why not write a series of articles? It's something I'm very interested in. Although UK and US laws differ, I'm sure the aspects are similar.

@MikeS

For obvious historical reasons there are similiarities between US and English and Welsh company law. However, the similiarities are not so great that any article on English and Welsh company law would be of particular use for anyone in the States.

Besides, as Mnem rightly observes, I'm just too busy. Sorry mate.

TCA is also right to say that I prefer to devote my efforts to pinching pic-a-nic baskets and tracking down jam sandwiches.

I've been trying to re-create the bug and I finally managed it but have found out the reason why it is happening; its not a bug within the AT plugin instead a bug within a heightmap editor I've been using.

On my heightmap if I look Close enough I can see hard white lines which are making the terrain look very odd.

@Mike - one less bug you have to worry about fixing now
