I played Halo2 and i have to say it is slightly lacking what i expected. except for a few changes (Covenant campaign, more veichles, more online, 1 level on earth) the game is basically the same as Halo. The graphics are slightly better but the gameplay and story plot are pretty much the same! The game starts off ... [EDITED BY MOD FOR SOILERS] ... but the only real difference is in double weapons system, which is down right confusing, and new enemies.
Cheers
P.s. Halo lovers beware this post may scare you!

You might want to edit that post since there are a lot of nerds on this forum that'll get pissed off, seeing how you just spoiled the game and all.

Hey!!! Put a disclaimer at the top, and put your rip in a code box or something. Even though I already know that stupid blue thing is back, which I hate...... But even if they released Halo 1.01 with a few new levels, everybody would buy it, because they're eager for more.

I thought Halo2 would have your ship arrested and have you sent back to the planet, due to the fact that Halo rips off Unreal Gold and the word halo.

Yeah, Halo ripped off unreal, unreal tournament 2k4 ripped off halo, it's all a giant circle of rip-offs.

But then UT ripped off Unreal, so it didn't rip off because it's a sequel, unless it riped off a diffrent aspect of Halo. Anyway, Halo started it(maybe). Then, there's still System Shock...

UT didn't rip off unreal. They're the same thing except one's meant for multiplayer. They're both made by the same company.

Back to topic... Halo 2 was a very good game. Your right, alot of it was the same, i dont know what your talking about dual weapons being confusing though, i find it quite simple.. hold down y to pick up your second weapon, seems simple to me.

Beyond that, they have added a few new weapons, a few new vehicles, a sword and some very very cool looking levels.

I'm sure you could atleast admit that in this game there havent been many situations where you've thought(like halo 1), oh yay, this place again. In this game, they tried their best to make each part different, and it is. That's the part i like the most.

Beyond that, have you ever gone into a level and looked in the distance at the beautiful scenery(art), it's really awesome.

The ending in my opinion was lacking a bit and i didnt like it so much as the other cinematics in the game, but like posted above.. even if they came out with a new halo 1 with different levels, same graphics and gameplay.. I bet people would buy it aswell. People dont buy this game for the graphics, they buy it because it's fun to play.

Then there's also the fact that you can play halo 2 online, which is pretty fun. Besides the fact that it's slow to find a game, once you do, it's pretty much lag free. Proximity voice is also pretty cool.

Have fun playing the game guys

No sh*t.

It's a sequel. If it were different I would be unhappy. Imagine if they made Halo 2 a game where Master Chief suddenly learned how to capture covenant and use them in strategic turn based battles. That would be stupid. Any other variation on gameplay or a new method of telling the story, or a new music style would be stupid.

Halo 2 is not to blame, the hype machine is. People expect too much out of games, so that when most games come out people think they suck, and when a superb game comes out people say it's mediocre and didn't live up to what it was supposed to be. That's why people are saying classics are better. Back then they were in a mindset where they weren't expecting as much out of a game.

I recon the new game was ruined by the new weapons, also removing the health bar is so annoying.the first game was far better in my opinion the only good thing about it is that instead of only being able to play 3 people online they have now made it multiplayer so you can play many more.the graphics are much better but they should of kept the old weapons and also the health. the one player missions where so much easier tho they never made it as fun to play the other games you stayed to fight now you just run past most things as its not as fun to kill them and there is no need to. so i belive it was too much hyped up but i dont care i just cant wait till i get halflife 2

Any spelling mistakes are totally In tensional.

@Neil19533: As for the shields and health, this was to add more touch of realism.. Technically speaking, the shields goes down, why should he have enough health to take another 10 bullets, when realisticly speaking, after the shield is down, he should take 3 bullets to die, which is pretty much how it is now.. When your shields are completely down in this game, it still takes a couple bullets before you die, there is a -secret- health bar, it's just not viewable, but it's there, and it lets you take a couple hits after the shields are down..

I beat the game on normal, then after i beat the last level on heroic(for fun), and then legendary.. Sad to say it doesnt seem there is a legendary ending video, or perhaps you must beat the -whole- game on legendary instead of just the last level. Why did i try beating it on heroic before legendary.. Apparently if you beat the game on heroic, you receive a new multiplayer level called -Foundation-.. I found that info in the xbox halo 2 cheats section of www.cheatplanet.com

However, after checking on the internet, it seems that different people have different views on how to attain this new level.. by doing tricks in the banshee on a certain level with a co-op game etc..

In any case, i quite enjoyed the game, i'd have to say my favorite weapon combo(surprisingly enough) is double SMG's.

I think the sword is way too overpowered in multiplayer play, and they should've done the same thing they did in single player for it... Add an energy amount before it gets depleted.. besides that, i'm looking very forward to Halo 3.

Have fun guys.

Now I, too, await Halo 3.

This just in....

Cats arodunt he world have already started gathering infront of local Walmarts, eagerly awaiting the release of Halo 3, which has been announced to be released in January.
We recomend that you do not go near Walmarts until Halo 3 has been released, in fear of getting harmed by the eagerly excited cats.

shame you can't use dual plasma swords...
My favorite DW setup would be an SMG in one hand, a Battle/Plasma Rifle in the other.

yep...it was that way on the first..i see no reason why they would change it...you have to beat the whole thing (on legendary )before seeing any special video

Nup.

If you play through on any difficulty, you can play the last level on legendary to see the 'hug'. Not sure if that's the case with the PC version, but the xbox version works like that ('cos that's what I did ).

You can't duel wield with a battle rifle.

I like two plasma rifles.

Two smg's are nice too, especially if you know that they won't kick if you tap the triggers instead of holding them down.

I like to alternate between the weapons when dual wielding - sorta defies the purpose I know, but if reloads are serious killers (especially with that frag launcher with the bayonet handle) - so emptying 1 gun then using the other one while it reloads is a good way to keep the pain constant .

One quick question - besides colour and bullet effect colour, what is the difference between the blue and red plasma rifles?

On topic:I have to agree. Halo 2 didn't live up to all of that hype (but you know it was extrodinarly hyped up). I have to admit (Nintendo fan that I am) both Halo and Halo2 were good games but please just a tad of origonality. I mean you run around and shoot stuff (WOW!) but you can also jump into cars and shoot stuff (COOL!) and along with that you have marines to help you shoot stuff. See?

From what i tested, it seems like the red ones burn your hands quicker than the normal ones, besides that i couldnt really tell a difference.

The Brute Plasma rifles are infinitely more effective. You can unload two whole plasma rifles at a brute and he will still be there to bother you. But if you use Brute Plasma rifles then they die much quicker, same with everything else. Just do nice short bursts to the head and you will be invincible.

Ya see, I go to my Gamecube for weird innovative funky (but fun they are indeed) games, but sometimes I want to blow something up. Some gamers do not like new ideas. They want better versions of existing ideas. Now that takes some thinking, injecting new ideas into an old idea, whereas Nintendo is just new ideas all over the place. It suits them well, but sometimes gets them into trouble (see GBA>GCN connectivity).

I agree with BCDP - It wouldnt be a sequel if they changed the whole thing o_O

I love Halo2. I havent beat 1 player yet (been busy) but I love the ragdoll physics they implemented, and the ability to actually use Banshees for air combat rather then just flying around. New vehicles pwnz0r too.

I cant wait to have a halo lan party at my house - Thats the best part about halo, huge halo parties!! Me and my friend played Co-op on Halo 1 about 5000 times, cant wait to get together and beat halo 2

I love Halo 2. If you expected it to be a whole new game, you need to know the definition of sequel. It has most everything you can expect from a sequel, new features and a bite of what has happend before.

I love it

afaik halo2 is the first game in which 3 people can hop into one vehicle and reak havoc..

or two people and one enemy, and the enemy wreaking havoc on you while you've no idea where you're getting shot from

it's gameplay that needs to be innovative, not necessarily unheard of features

It's the fun in Halo that makes it the games that it is - there's so many fun things to do, and you don't get sick of it either, it's like saying your tired of blowing people up, it just does'nt happen.

All great games need to offer something extra, something that the gamer can take for themself - in Halo 1, there were a few tricks, but everyone ended up doing the same stuff, like the flying warthog trick for instance. Halo2 has more shenanigans with it's neat new physics engine, there's a lot of fun to be had with that, but there seems to be more to do, it's tough sometimes to concentrate on the job in hand, rather than messing around with the discarded warthog wheels or building baricades. PC games are simply not designed in the same way - there's fun to be had in BF, but it's nothing like the crazy stuff you can do in Halo.

That big level with the broken bridge is terrible for campers - we usually play that in teams, it's great level for the warthog, but damn there's a lot of hiding places.

The worst thing is that there's only me and my 2 brothers, 3 is not a happy number for multiplayer games when you only have 2 xboxes running Halo2. With 4 players, you can go teams and it's awesome, but it's pointless going against someone who's sharing a screen with you.

I hear all these people talking about jacking vehicles, and how innovative it is, but have they ever heard of Grand theft Auto? It's a game that revolves around just that, jacking vehicles. Plus vehicular combat in multiplay is nothing new, BF 1942 did a much better job.

Guns arnt the problem, people are the problem, shoot all the people and guns arnt a problem anymore.

Yes, Grand Theft Auto invented the whole carjacking thing, but it's really nothing special. You run up to a car, the car starts to slow down, you press the action button and he opens up the door, pulls the driver out and jumps in. In Halo 2 there is a cool animation of the driver getting knocked off or beat into submission, and you have to wait until the vehicle is going slow, which calls for a bit of skill.

The vehicles in BF1942 were just clunky. Both Halo, Halo 2, and UT2004 did a better job in vehicles than BF1942. All the vehicles in Halo/2 feel natural when you drive them, and there's infinitely more fun things to do with them. It's great to get them into places in the campaign where you're not supposed to (try getting the Warthog inside the Scarab on Metropolis, that's fun). Also, you can't forget the warthog jump variations. I just witnessed a hog being launched from the backside of the fan on Zanzibar to the middle of the ocean.
