Hello DBWorld ,

- Welcome to a Plan of Creating a Gamming Club -

Allow me to introduce myself. I am an aspiring 19 year old programmer from India. My name is Dipak. Creating games has been childhood dream. Since then I have studied C,C++,Java,VB,ASP e.t.c I have also worked as part-time computer teacher. But all these languages, I have learnt only the Software Development point of view and Game Development is Very very very difficult and not worth the effort ( I have never really succeeded).

Dark Basic has been a real boon. I am having only the Trial versions of DB v1.06,DB v.1.13 and DBPRO Trial. I donot have much money to spend but I am saving up, to buy the full version soon.

I am familiar with design tools like 3DstudioMax, and Maya. Since each of us (people in these Forums) have varied knowledge in Different aspects of Game Programming, I thought, why not start a Club ! or Let me just say, Lets try to make simple games together combining our resources. If there is any luck, we might really get to sell them. I do have many ideas. I think all of us have, and what is really required, is to share them.

So if any of you are interested, do leave your email address in this Forum and tell me also what you think. Any suggestions are welcome.
Thanks for lending your precious time.

I am currently doing a really good CDA Hacker program. It open up CDA files from music CDs and then it displays the data in a readable form.

Hi, it's me, your friendly-neighbour newcomer. Gaming club, I say YES! I dreamt of designing and producing games, that's why I got DBP. I am 13, I started my ideas when I was in primary school. If possible, could I be part of a newcomers/n00bs section of the club? I feel I'm advancing more quickly than I imagined, and hope to be as good as petrat, RPGamer, etc.

Anyway, hi Kenzenray, chatting to you guys soon...

PEACE OUT

I have DarkBASIC Professional v 3.1
DarkBASIC v1.13
DarkMATTER

So, I have some resources that might be of use to us. BTW, I didn't buy all of them together, got DBC awhile back, but couldn't figure it out as good, then I got DarkMATTER (good stuff on it), then recently DBP.

Hey, just read the program announcements section when it hit me...

"Let's come up with the best DarkBASIC Pro game ever seen."

I haven't seen many programs or games I can say that match other games, so I think we should start on our BIG game. It'll take a good while though.

I was thinking along the lines of a 3rd person/1st person (optional) game that requires strategic thinking plus the usual skills of lightning fast reflexes to cope with the action. We could base it on the SAS (I think that means Special Air Squadron), we could use the model from Counter-Strike unless we make our own. Anyways, what do you guys think? It would be a great project. Any helpful criticism welcome.

If you wanna do a game people will like and buy then I'd suggest you don't do an fps. There are bucket loads of fps being produced by top notch game companies and you'd do well to even be noticed.

I reckon there's a demand for fairly straight forward but clever/original/addictive games. The sort of thing people can play in their coffee break or for a hour orr so in the evenings.

If you aim for something smaller not only will you get it done quiker with the added satisfaction of completing something, but you can focus more on the specifics of gameplay and what will make it special, rather than just aiming for gradeur.

Okay....here's my two cents (I'm british, so it would be penny for your thoughts here)....here we go....

1. I suggested my idea because it would utilise all aspects of DarkBASIC Pro.

2. I suggested my idea because I would like to experience what it was to make a great game, so basically it's my 1st time swimming and I throw myself in the deep end, and hopefully learn how to stay afloat, hope you got that meaning.

3. Hentai, art is important, I like art so I like you
I'm alright with you aboard if xxxPetRatxxx is.

4. Kenzenray, I am new to programming, so basically I'm new to DarkBASIC. I can't really show off any of my projects seeing as I have 0 of them, but in time I would be of some use, maybe under the tutilage of somebody.

5. xxxpetratxxx , I WILL be using DarkBASIC Pro, not DarkBASIC, seeing as I've just bought DBP and it doesn't seem right not to use it, because it's better.

6. soyuz, you're right, FPSs are coming in at the bucket load, mostly they are based on wars and stealth. However, graphics and such are not important if the game is up to scratch, media just makes good games GREAT games.

Well, I think that's everything I have to say, any further comments? Also, what should be the name of our ALLIANCE?

Anyways, I don't mind what we do first, I'm working on how to make PONG so I can safely walk into 2D game making, just how to bounce the ball around the arena and other stuff. Well, byes for now

U can use DarkBasicPro if you want, but if you want to use the source that is on my site, you will have to port it to pro coz it places everything differently and messes up pictures and stuff

OK, first an Otaku is a big anime fan, kinda like a japanese geek. Secondly, yeah I drew those pics, you can put them on your site if you want, but there all ready asigned to other projects (the girl at the table is gonna be in a manga [Japanese comic]) but I can bam out more in no time. Thanks for the complents. Unforuantly I ordered DBPro, but I'll deal with that later. Now we just need a conscept, that's gonna be the hard part.

Okay, some things I'm gonna sort out with xxxpetratxxx...

1. "U can use DarkBasicPro if you want, but if you want to use the source that is on my site, you will have to port it to pro coz it places everything differently and messes up pictures and stuff"

I WILL use DarkBASIC Pro, and theres only a few commands that have been removed and other things so it won't pose a problem.

2. "And dark basic is better than DBPro in some ways coz some of the commands are taken out of DBPro so there :-P"

R i i i i i i ght....
You do read the manual, don't you? It says they are removed because they are not needed, inferior and to make room for more commands with further updates ( I think).

3. "- Parellex is the name of my team - www.parellex.netfirms.com"

"i dont want any more people on the team now, coz we have enough, plus it'll be hard to pay for loads of people. Hentai is now on the team and he is the last person ok? the rest of you are already on the team. e-mail me for the password to the secret area on our site - www.parellex.netfirms.com"

"And by the way, if we are on the team that I made (nd you all are ) then the name is Parellex......www.parellex.netfirms.com"

Thank-you, xxxpetratxxx, we've established that you've made a team called parallex, and we're also aware that the site is www.parallex.netfirms.com. Hope that has reassured you, we're not leaving you, you're okay, now breathe in and out....

4. "Sorry if i sound a bit bossy but if you check out our site then u'll know that we are all on the same team...and we r gonna make some great games.!"

Yes, we will make the best games. We will rock

Well I guess we are now ok with team.

I really have a superb concept. I have a team of my own here in India and I am yet to start a site. I am also wondering wether to let out this idea so easily coz its been my cherished secret for all these years. And I am very very sure it will satisfy DAZ's requirements and will be a Game well worth ...

Lets build our trust first.
Like xxxpetratxxx says, lets try some sample games first and then try the Main One.

Well, I've just found out to make pong against yourself (in Britain you might call it "WALL-Y"). That's a start as I can make it have 3 difficulty settings, and pretty colours etc. etc.

Superb concept, cherished secret...sounds interesting...will fill my requirements and a game well worth, now, if that is true, if it satisfies me, you're gonna be one of my best pals Anyways, my knowledge is growing, we have concept, almost conquered "trust", I think we need to work on a site. Yes, xxxpetratxxx, yours is okay, but if we're gonna be professional, we'll need a website manager, someone who knows JAVA or FLASH for example. Can't wait to hear from you guys again.

PEACE OUT
