I am quite a novice can do.I would like to know what we can do with BSP ? Exactly what is it .. and how is useful in making games

The point about bsp is that you only draw to the screen the polys that will be seen. This decreases the time spent on rendering the screen.

In my opinion X doesn't even scratch BSP
With BSP u get:
* Powerful editor's available
* Lightmapping which makes u're map look MUUUCHHHH better
* Calculation of collision zones are done automatically
* Angled polygon collision (not only box, which sux!)
* You get all of this with just one command in DBPro

Use X for regular objects, and BSP for the world.

Basically it's what every good first-person-shooter ie-halflife uses for it's maps.
