this may poddibly be a stupid question, but why doesnt anybody ever create top-down strategy games? like age of empires, or starcraft, or warcraft, not as complex, but something like them, why dont i ever see any of those, just fps and mmorpg and regular rpg...

Well, it's a complicated game to make. If you mean RTS, I have seen quite a few.

Edit: See, I could even remember his site from the top of my head.

I spelled "disappointment" wrong. Pahintulutan ang di-inaasahang nakakahiyang pagkakamaling dulot ng kamangmangan. Have at you.

well you dont have to wait for your turn. When your building your tanks and organising your army etc. your enemy is doing stuff at the same time.

ah, i see, but still, would it really be that hard to make one like that, just a simple one? like, one type of resource, a couple units, a couple buildings? the hardest part would be enemy AI wouldnt it?

To me yes, the hardest part will be enemy AI, I am almost done with all the player stuff, soon after I get all the resources nailed down, and all the unit types, I will create some form of AI, but I have no idea how at the moment.

Guns arn't the problem, people are the problem, shoot all the people and guns arn't a problem anymore.

well, my best wishes to you, no offense to anyone but being creative and creating a top down RTS game sure beats the hell out of all the other games i see like arcade game remakes and copies of different games basically. they good for practice, but whats the point if its been made before, good luck, i want to make a top down rts game, but im not that good yet...

Thats good, but little games such as retro remakes, arcade style games, and other loads of games like that is a good way to practice learning DB before you actually decide to make a huge game like that.

If you do make an RTS game, I would be very interested to hear your progress because I love rts games .
