There are a couple trouble spots here. The first is that the DBC camera is terrible for close range, nothing can go one unit within its view without getting clipped. You'll need to position the gun several units away from the camera and use DISABLE OBJECT ZDEPTH on it to get the effect of holding it in front of the camera.

You might not find this yet, but LOCK OBJECT on has a bug. You will need to write your own lock on code.

Try using limb's, I had the same problem, and it never got fixed. Plus with limbs, you can change a whole host of things, different guns/hands whatever.

Guns arn't the problem, people are the problem, shoot all the people and guns arn't a problem anymore.

i was planning on using limbs, but for the player objects that the other players see. i figured id just change the weapon in the hud. how would a limb work in first person?

well you create a cube for the player, position the camera inside or slightly above the cube, set the camera to the cubes orientation, se the camera to move with the cube, then you add the limb to the front of the cube.

Guns arn't the problem, people are the problem, shoot all the people and guns arn't a problem anymore.
