If you're going to get into programming an RTS...You're going to want to learn how A* works. Without it, none of your units will pathfind very well.

It's going to be probably the hardest part of the game to get working properly. Or atleast, the hardest part to understand.

I still don't understand it VERY well, I do understand it a bit, and got the basics of it down...But I don't understand it aswell as I would like to. I'm not comfortable enough with it to be able to sit down and program a complete routine from start to finnish using A* without a reference.

I alleviated pathfinding in my stradegy games, by using a drag and drop system to move units, it makes it a bit harder to move troops, but it is easier.

Guns arn't the problem, people are the problem, shoot all the people and guns arn't a problem anymore.

Are you trying to use 2D over 3D with your internet browser open because if I do, it blinks. It will also blink if you have an older version of DBC. Get 1.13.

If you want to make an rts, you have to understand how one works.
Play Age of Empires or Warcraft and you will see exactly how it works.

Don't let life get you down, it will only get better.

He means that using print in a loop makes it blink what you need to do is have have sync on before your loop and sync inside your loop.

Check out my tutorial. Though written for DBP, with some modification it'll work in classic as well.

wolfee, you should really start your own thread instead of hijacking.
Good start though, character collision nice touch. Why does the sphere under the mouse cursor shake all the time? And also, you might want to fix the selection box code. Because right now it only lets you draw a box by moving the mouse from top left to bottom right.

first: Thank you!

The sphere is the 3 dimensional position of the mouse cursor. It shakes, because I don't know the correct 3D position of the mouse, so every point of the sphere is only a nearly position.
The selection box is knowingly like this. I wanted to code this, because I think its better, than you can select a unit from everywhere.

Excuse me, but I can't understand:
"wolfee, you should really start your own thread instead of hijacking."
Can you explain it?
Thx
