They said this last year too.. and surprise surprise Nick *still* ended up doing it. Would be nice if TGC would say something and stick to it for once.
This said Manchester for me is quite a trek. Apart from the obvious problem that traffic is horrible, and that it is too easy to get lost there (and best not to go around with my Southerner accent there). It just is too big for the scale of the event, as well as dingy... I mean huge events you can get the NEC, so that's cool. Somehow I doubt they'd be entertaining several thousand, probably looking at what, 20-30people most.
If you've ever been to Warwick, it just seems to make perfect sense.
It's like 40minutes drive from Manchester / Derby / Birmingham, which puts it just off 3 Major Airports.. not to mention it is directly along the M1, which provides it with easy access for people driving. The city is small, with alot of renovations done so it kinda has that 'new city' look to it right now.
It'll be alot cheaper than holding it in a big city which makes a profit from tourists and conventions.
It isn't desolate of culture or things to do in the evenings, but even still with 3 large cities close by it is very easy to just hope on the train to one of them.
Not to mention the road system there is pretty straight-forward.
Oh and friendly locals, I've never had much of a warm welcome asking for directions in major cities or felt particularly safe walking around at nite. Given where I live atm, alright I'm pretty much used to people getting stabbed and such around me.. but Warwick is a relatively peaceful & pleasent town.
