Hi,

I am a professional developer (I work for Kuju entertainment). I am thinking of getting DBPro to play around for rapid prototyping. One thing that concerns me is to be able to define my own particle systems other than the one provided in DBPro.

Is there a 'billboard' (view-facing polygon) command set in DBPro or failing that, would I be able to derive the right and up vectors from the view matrix to allow me to produce some?

Thanks,

Byron.

You could always point a plain object at the camera every cycle. This may not work with various un-patched versions of dbpro.

Hmm.. usual cycle is to just normalise the necessary view matrix columns which gives me the right, up and forward vector in world space coordinates. I then use these to generate a set of quad coordinates which when offset with each particle's centre point gives me a really nice and easy billboard system.

Can you access the view Matrix in DBPro and if you can, can you then generate polygons with a texture in world space?

Well you can use the "view matrix4" command to get the matrix data.

You can also make objects like a plain or triangle and texture them in DBpro, though it would be better to make them before hand as creating objects can be a little slow.

Hmmm... I dont suppose there is a way of getting direct access to vertex buffers is there?
