Heya,

You've may been woundering I have changed my name again - WRONG - It's actually a metal rock band I'm in and I'm the drummer There is three of us at the moment. It's music like Staind or Nickelback. At I've got band practise tommorow, me and rob (rob is the lead guitar) have written 2 songs and gonna perform 'em hopefully tommorow

There is gonna be a website to it, I'm making it and a PHP forum, there is a Proboards forum at the moment though, but programming a PHP forum, and there is Biogs, whos in the band and contacting us. That's all we've got for the moment. The website (hopefully) is gonna be www.lostdreams.co.uk. There also will be downloads and you can listen to our latest music and side projects.

That's all for now, and ROCK ON!!!

:o

Personally their music is too generic and cookie-cutter, but good luck with your band anyways.

NOOO!!!!
Put those drums to good use...like Mercyful Fate-ish music, or how about some Ozzy. ANYTHING BUT NICKELBACK!!!!!!
Maybe try with some Aerosmith! Not metal, but they're still f*cking awesome.
Or Skid Row? They rule as well. ANYTHING BUT NICKELBACK!!!
Try...I dunno...some Led Zeppelin. Iron Maiden too. Or the Cult!

When I think metal I think Metallica, Nevermore, Dimmu Borgir, Sabbath... however, I do not consider "Staind" and "Nickelback" metal. I call that "P**** rock".

Thats awesome, I've been playing guitar for 3 years (maybe we should jam sometime lol) I've been in a couple of bands, but nothing where I was serious enough to do shows. Have you any interest in Megadeth, Iced Earth, Metallica, or Iron Maiden. Those are some of my favorite bands (I mostly learn Metallica off Mxtabs.net) I like NickelBack a lot, and not as much Stained. (Stained has a great singer, but their band is repeditive) I hope you guyz make it! Good luck and can't wait to see the website.

OK, first off, don't listen to that crap you pass off as music if you expect to be a good drummer.

First off, from a drummer's perspective, and not just my love for them, get some Rush, Neil Peart is the best prog. rock drummer ever.

Secondly, get some Dream Theater + Liquid Tension Experiment, Mike Portnoy is an excellent metal drummer.

Lastly, listen to awesome drummers like:
Keith Moon
Alex Vanhalen
Charlie Watts
Lars Ulrich
Terry Bozio is pretty good, but he seems to act more like a male model rather than a drummer sometimes >_<

By the way, do you have any experience playing drums?

a lot of them do. Mercyful Fate for instance.
However, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath are unrivaled. There's a reason why they made it to the top. Well, that's my oppinion at least.

To be honest, we're mostly gonna be like System Of A Down/Disturbed/Korn a bit like Ozzy sometimes. some of our songs will be like Staind.

My most favourite songs by System Of A Down are 'Deer Dance' 'Aerials' 'Chop Suey' 'Science' and 'Chik'n'stu'

Oh, I just noticed something. Sorry for the post naming all of the bands and stuff, I just realised that mostly I wasn't paying attention to the drumwork, that I was really paying attention to the guitarwork. Besides, even if I hate Nickelback, it doesn't really matter, you could still be a kick-@ss drummer. I don't like death metal, but I admit when they have nice guitars. I hate a lot of bands, but a lot of them do have good parts to them. If you really, really want to hear some good drummers, check these guys out:

Bobby Jarzombek:
http://www.bobbyjarzombek.com/
Was the drummer for Halford's solo career. Listen to their song betrayal. You don't have to check for drumwork, you can notice it, which I think is rare for most bands. Most of the time I don't listen to anything but the voice and guitarwork.

Bill Ward:
http://www.billward.com/
He was the drummer for Black Sabbath. Now, of course, Black Sabbath are the best band in the world, and if you disagree with me, then you're wrong. However, that is one thing that I noticed about them, is that you can hear Ward play.

Gar Samuelson:
(No official Website)
Megadeth's drummer during the Peace Sells era. Also, he was Mercyful Fate's drummer, and Fate is awesome. While, I don't pay as much attention to him as the others, I can definately tell it's there. It blends in with the guitarwork though.

John Bonham
http://www.led-zeppelin.com/johnbonham/ (While not his official website, he's dead, pardon him if he didn't have enough energy to create it, I'm sure he'll get right on it)
First of all, you have to like Led Zeppelin. Everyone likes Led Zeppelin. If you don't, then your oppinions no longer matter in this world. First of all, listen to Stairway to Heaven, Kashmir, and Rock and Roll. Those are great drums and everything. I could waste all of TGC's space just listing them. That's at least a terabyte. They almost top Black Sabbath. Almost.

Why waste money when you can just teach yourself,
I mean, Jimi Hendrix tought himself how to play the guitar!
And you know, Drums are just AWESOME!! Mind you I've got band practise today

I hit my tenth year of playing drums

Even if you are going to be playing metal, still check out some Rush, I'm telling you, Neil Peart is like a god.

Rush's hardest albums are probably Counterparts and Vapor Trails, and probably their first album (which Neil didn't drum for )

You should also buy one of their live albums, just for Peart's drum solo. I recommend Rush in Rio, because it has a ton of good Vapor Trails stuff on it as well.

nickelback, hahahahahahaha. Most generic rock band on the radio.
Aww, I can't find the website. It played two different nickelback songs at the same time, and you could barely tell. The build up, bridge, chorus, it all happens at the exact same time in the songs. The guitars even work together.

yes sage it was, musicianship isn't always a genetic thing ya know, and a 20 yr old that has been playing for 7 years is most likely beter than a 12 yr old that has been playing since he was 5.

Ramones rock!.

Nickelback and Staind are not ideal bands to follow, KoRn and SOAD at least have some merit (KoRn are one of my fave bands and I like a lot of SOAD tracks - esp Aerials). Aerosmith should inspire you to put something else on, that's it - they're like a cheap vacuum packed and water soluble version of the Stones for girls too young to know better.

Good luck, hope to hear some samples soon.

I remember an interview with Chad Krueger (or whatever his name is). He was basically bragging because everyone in his band is a run of the mill old dude with no tattoos - that's great Chad, did they grow you all in a petre dish for 40 years to keep you so freakin dull. All their songs seem to be about abused housewives and kids, and him coming along and dealing with the situation - wow Chad, you must be a real hero . Music is music, but I prefer music that is honest - not fabricated to attract the attention of a target audience. Puddle of Mudd are just as bad - I was unforunate enough to see them live a while back, damn abusive to the audience, sloppy timing all over the place, then KoRn came out and taught them what a gig is supposed to be like.

Ozzie's done more immoral and stupid things than most people on the planet never mind the industry, yet everyone loves him - we like our rock stars a little rough round the edges, hell they can be a-holes if they like, just as long as they aren't spineless and fake.

Ozzy's never done anything stupid. Everything he does is a perfect example of how we should be. Hail Ozzym/!

Well, I don't necisarily mind if they're fake or not--let's face it, you won't find too many musicians really worshipping Satan or really doing anything about the problems they claim are in the world. You won't find GWAR eating babies. You won't find Barabara Streisand standing up to the government. You won't find the Misfits eating brains. You won't find the rappers killing all of the white people. You won't find much reality in most music--which is what makes it appealing to most people. They don't usually wanna hear lyrics about eating breakfast (unless it's brains, in the Misfits case). They don't want to hear music about being a complete money whore (well, most rich people are). No, when people listen to music, they build up expectations for the band. Everyone was shocked when Danny Spitz left Anthrax saying he'd found God. Let's face it, we build up our own images of bands. If you went up to just a casual listener of music and said Led Zeppelin worshipped the devil (which I doubt that they did), after hearing the song Stairway to Heaven, they wouldn't believe it. Again, I'm not saying that they do.
