[EDIT] New release - Please download the zip http://www.apexnow.co.uk/rpgdemo.zip 3.74mb

Hi all,

As some of you may know, I've been here for some time now, produced the likes of the CSM importer, beginnings of a scripting system called Thrust which is now being superceeded by XScape etc. All in development, but to truly show you the power of XScape and my CSM importer together, I've been working on a TRULY maginificent RPG which will be released very shortly.

The RPG has not yet been named, but I've been testing it with six other users over an office network, and has proven extremely successful and popular among my co-workers, here at APEXnow!!

So, no further may I continue than to show you an excellent screenshot of myself and my co-worker (Beppi), he's Mexican, having an awesome RPG battle in one of the levels.

This will be released very shortly, so keep your EYEs peeled!

Paul.

[EDIT]
Ok, my new RPG demo is now available for download. I've still got some issues with the client/server code, and the documentation, which is extensive to say the least.

Extract the RPG files and fire her up. All media files are contained so the application should be nice and tidy without dependent runtime files required.

Any problems, let me know and I'll get my team of developers onto the case.

Thanks to Eric, Mouse and all of IRC for all your support and testing as well. If you find any bugs in the beta I sent you, let me know.

Your friend.

Teh RPG team.

ThanX man!! As you can see, the RPG uses the latest in 3D modelling applications, although I've still got to lightmap the levels yet.

What?? Do your eyes not deceive you, this is no joke, this project has been in development for the past eight months now. Surely you can see that a lot of hardwork has gone into this new RPG?

That's an interesting battle.... Is it just me or are the characters invisible, and their health meters, and everything else. All I see is a door, a window, a floor, and some messages at the bottom. I don't get what the big deal is

The development of RPGs and the testing is no idiotic and funny business, there are costs for development tool purchasing, computer hardware etc. So yes, you're right, it's not a funny business.

Ok folks, things are progressing very well indeed. Myself and some net users have done further beta testing, and have ironed out a few of the small graphic problems, although there is still much to do.

Here's a new screenshot showing the new VASTLY improved interface.

This is obviously mocking a certain un-named WIP game. Very unfunny if you ask me.

I work for EA and am currently in-talks with some management-types about the possiblity of publishing this RPG. By the looks of things, the game appears to be far above our standards and we are willing to purchase full rights and properties to the product pending a private demonstration at our HQ located in Redwood City, CA. You will be contacted once more information becomes available.

Did you even know Philip? He loved this kind of stuff, in fact, he was one of the main instigators of amusing posts such as this one.

Yes, because EA has already aquired the NFL license, do not be surprised to find all the characters in APEXnow's RPG named after popular football players. Similarly, we have hopes of getting the main classes renamed to the 'Dallas Cowboys', 'Atlanta Falcons', 'Tennesse Titans', etc. This is not set in stone yet, but we have a saying down here at EA, "Don't give up until you've paid your way to success".

Of course it is, I used PSP to reduce the screen size so that it took less time to upload to the site. But the demo will be perfect.

So lots of games play in that resolution. I'd be more suspicous if it were something like 709*312
