Unfortunately, I like inverted, Oliver.

It's just something I'm used to, and to me it makes sense.
Sorry for complaining about it.

@Lukas W, ChrisyB
Thanks

@Uberwiggett
Yup, I've also noticed invisible walls a couple of times. You can press enter btw to see the newton collision areas. I think it has something to do with me not joining all the verts in the level model.

Anyway, thanks for offering to help. Though I've practically finished all the media I need for the small game i'm planning, i just need to texture them, which wont take long coz i want to keep everything nice and simple. I had a look at your thread, and u got some nice models, if you want I can give you what i got so far, and you could make ur own game. It would be nice to see the syndicate world using newton .

@andrew neale
Thats a special feature. If you actually want to play the game, run it a couple of times until it starts .

@Mr Pointless
Lol, well if I ever finish the game, i'll be sure to add an invert option !

yeah tahts just it, i have trial dbp an dit doesnt do crap unfortunately. So unless you could give me teh codez and a list of what names i must change my models to, or reverse i give you a list of models names to change the name of your guns etc i can work all the media, just need the engine there that lets me select the gun i want and lets me shoot things.

nice game! nice job!
gravities confusing, if you knock over one of the little barricade things on the top floor on its side, then stand on it and jump, you go very high for some reason.... i love pointlessness

still its so cool!!! i gotta learn how to use newton physics stuff, and use it in my games... is newton commands hard or easy? Does it literally do it all for you, or do you have to specify EVERYTHING?

your game is small, but highly addictive, ive played it for a total of about 3 hours all together... keep up the good work

Glad you liked it And yup there does appear to be a bug with the jumping.

In answer to your question, I think it is all pretty confusing at first, sorta like a new language. But when you get the basic concept, it becomes much easier, and things which would have taken ages to code in dbpro can be done much quicker. The whole demo is about 700 lines, which isnt really that much.

you got a loading screen on it?

i made a game before, and it randomly crashed when starting it up... after adding a loading screen, and evening out how much media and objects were loaded and setup at once. It stopped it crashing, i also tried adding a main menu, but once you start the game, it once again, it randomly crashes.
Im nto actually too sure, i think loading too much at once kinda kills dbpro... load it in smaller batches...and have it syncing between every couple of objects setup... or dont turn sync on until all objects are setup...

im an idiot... thats my reason if it dont stop it crashing...

Well I think I solved the problem of newton crashing and the weird convex hull problems. I was exporting all my objects from Metaseq, and even though they load in darkbasic, the file had some errors, causing newton to mess up sometimes.

And today I added an 'anti gravity' gun. It was pretty simple, all I had to do was add a minus sign .

Darn you've stolen one of our ideas which we stole off HL2. heh heh.

I'm glad to hear you fixed the convex hull problem, look forward to seeing a new version. One which I don't have to run 10 times to play .

Sorry there wont be another demo for a long time . I've got exams in one week, and need to study .

And I've got to give my competitors a chance to catch up , mu hahaha, just kidding .

But expect the finished game in 3 weeks (should have a bit of time after exams u see) .

Oh, and i just got the bullet holes to stick to doors . Newton is seriously the best thing that every happened to darkbasic.

Hey thanks for the catch up time, I need it. Although I'm about to test multiplayer in MOOD, you should be able to die at the (non-exsistant) hands of a 100 unit high elipsoide.

Can't wait to see you all done and dusted, and good luck with the exams. I have to wait till june before I do more of mine.

yes, i also think this is the problem.
i used to load objects ive made and almost everytime the game crashed and gave me the error message. i removed them objects and used the dbobjects and it never crashes now. but.. i was trying to add a skybox and unfortunatley it wont run now.. the game crashes all the time

looks like a cool game, whatd u use to make it? and i know this is something i should know...Whats newton?

It was made in DBP, using Newton (see http://www.physicsengine.com/) thanks to walaber's wrapper (see http://www.walaber.com/).

@Lukas
Well why don't u just remove the sky box? (skybox ...thats a good idea ).

It happened to me with V1. I kept getting cut off mid-download and being told it was successful. If you just kept trying (BTW, which browser are you using?) then you'll get there.

Must have been Geocities causing the prob. V2 is class. The weapon bob looks a little too fast and there's no invisible wall to stop the player from falling off the map, but they're just minor things.

ok, my fault...

if you have v1.30a you wont need the dll in same folder as exe.
but if you use v1.31 you will need the dll in same folder as exe.

you dont have to worry about that.

the author (Oliver) just have to make sure he puts the dll in same folder before he releases it. but i think he uses v1.30a and thhe dll will be included automaticaly

Anime Blood, i'm pretty sure you will be able to run it now. There was something strange going on with old demos, not many people actually got them working. I think i found out wat the problem was, and it hasn't crashed since . So, i'll upload a new demo sometime.

Yup, version 2 was just as buggy as version 1, and having the newton dll wont help - its already included. But version 3 - when it comes out - is gonna work, im sure .

Osiris, theres no point, even if you do get the file, it might not work because they are all old versions. I will release a new (working) demo soon.

It just finished lightmapping the level. This is my first attempt...
