maybe pagio wanted to ask something else: in which program did they write dark basic

maybe coz he wants to get closer to the programming by using the language in which they programmed dark basic?

They use Visual C++ 6.0 + Assembler for creating DBPro

E definitely stands for "Environment" in the traditional sense - if you think about it how can you have an integrated editor? integrated into what?

well its not really an environment ... it is an editor and its features are intergrated into the compilers language

i mean to me that make more sense, especially as you can only use DarkBasic's editor within Windows - this means that is must use the Windows Environment.

probably back when you had to create your own environments to work in (e.g. Win3.1 and DOS) but now its all encapsulated isn't it

i mean darkbasic doesn't really have its own environment, because it uses DirectX which is part of the Windows Enviornment
but as i said just how i see it.

I agree - but the question wasn't about does DBPro qualifying as having an IDE (personally I don't think it does - whereas Visual Studio .NET for example certainly does) - the question was what does IDE stand for - and it's definitely environment not editor

Cheers,

Rich
