I've been coming to the Dark Basic website for weeks now reading and downloading some example files (i.e. the room demo.) So far it sounds like a great system for creating games but I was wondering if anyone has tried a 2 player 3D fighter or wrestling game yet? Is the system well equipped to create games like this?

I have a visual communications and computer art design background and also do a lot of programming (PHP, Perl, Javascript, ASP, Lingo, Actionscript, etc..) I also have Lightwave 3D experience. Hopefully I could jump into DarkBasic easily and start making some cool stuff.

Is DarkBasic the answer? Or would learning C++ and programming for Microsoft DirectX be the way to go. Are their any limitations I should know about DarkBasic..

Thanks,

SuperDMon

reece is right, you can make anything

im not sure how web languages may help you, they may confuse you (i dont think they have main loops etc.?).
Anyway, DB would be a good start. Im trining up one of my mates whoz fluent in CGI, and once he can create some kewl stuff (five him two months or so) were opening a software company, specialising in DB Another friend of mine who is a great 3d modeller may be joining too

You should pick db up alot easier since you may have knowledge of variables etc. but it'll still take you a month or two. I used (and sometimes still do) prgram in c++. I used to program in c++ before i got db, as c was the first language i ever learnt. Because of my knowledge of c/c++, i made a 'not half bad' 3d walking thing, where you controled a camera around a matrix that had some objects on which you couldnt walk through, within around 3hours of actually having DB

You WILL be able to make your game, most definately. In DB you can be looking to start your 3d game in about 1 or 2 months time. In c++, expect to wait years, and during those years you would have to study tutorials everynight ive known c++ for about 5/6 years now, and at the moment i can only create VERY VERY simple 3d, i sorta stopped learning new c commands once i had db.

Anyway, good luck on your fighting game

Ouch, i just got a static shock off my keyboard, strange...

He said he can't get on, in other words nothing we say here will do squat, however he did leave his e-mail. Now what was that site you should never give you e-mail to unless you like spam?

This is Truth!
This is my Belief!
...at least for now.
