Hi all, I've created this alien character for some guys in the "3 Dimensional Chat" board but this seems like the correct place to post it for anybody who needs an extra character in their game.

Note that the texture map is very large, I've done this so you can resize it down to whatever you want rather than having to include many images of differing quality in one download.

its animated pudbawl did all the work in this one .he runs at you swings and when he is standing there he looks at his wrist.page 77 of the FPS Creator Manual will let you know how to put him in your game one thing tho you will have to re set the scale in the fpe to the size you want i put it at 200.when i first put him in game scale was set at 80 so i had a little alien running around.

set scale to 20 its like alien rats .lol

Entities.exe.its not in there yet skip steps 11 -14 .but rem to scale the alien in the fpe.and chang the textured file to tga our dds.

Wow, thanks for all the positive feedback, glad to see it is getting used, post as many screen shots as you can, it's great to see something I made in action.

@eek: please, go ahead and mirror it, I've got plenty of bandwidth and my host is very good about keeping their service up

@all: I don't have FPSC (yet) so I don't know exactly how it likes things in the character models. In this one I just put walk, run, death, etc, animations in whatever order. Does FPSC assume these animations start and end at certain frames or can you tell it where the animations are in the model?

wow, I'm glad you posted that and gave me a chance to take a look, looks like the different parts of the body can have their own animations, this makes sense but is also not how I animated this guy. I'll have to look into this more for my next one. The way this guy is setup there is no differentiation between head, body, arms and legs. Obviously as we can see by the video generiously provided by DOMRAY it still works in the game, but be sure to setup the animation ranges so you get the correct movements, I've copied them from my first post here and put them here:

walk cycle: frames 1 to 40
death anim: frames 45 to 87
run cycle: frames 90 to 110
battle roar: frames 115 to 155
idle-soar wrist: frames 160 to 235
idle-breathing: frames 235 to 285

ok this is what i think i see wrong with your code.change

desc= us marine (unarmed) to desc =alien

model= alien.x to were you put your x model you have to make a path to point to your x file like entitybankww2your file namealien.x


scale=80 set it to scale=200 you can change the size of the x model here to fit your needs.

textured to textured=entitybankww2your file namealien.tga same thing as the model you have to make a path to the texture.

i hope this helps you out.

pudbawl im trying to work on the animation ranges to get them right in still new at this.lol if you make anthing new and want to see it in fpsc e mail it to me at domray@comcast.net ill make a fraps video of it for you.

Semi success! I got an entity into the game, but it's just a ball and when i run it it's invisible.

Well I tried, I brought it into photoshop and changed it to a tga and if I got your meaning the paths are now:

textured = Files\entitybank\User 2\Objects\alien.tga

I took off the backslash before files. It still shows up as a circle though. Hmm. Is it somethin with the texture? Idk, thanks though DOMRAY for helping me out.

hmm np i dont mind some times its a little things we for get to do that stop us from geeting the models in the game .so if you try to test it out all you see in game is a circle.try to delete the bin file in the object folder.so when you go to load the alien model in to the game it will make a new one with the the new paths and stuff.and try to start it with entitybank .like this

pudbawl ive ben working on geeting the animated alien to move the way you wanted him to. i got the battle roar to work and i think he now runs better now have a look at www. domray.neptune.com and tell me what you think .its not 100% yet but im working on it .btw the battle roar rocks i just need to put a wav of a t rex there.

Wow, yeah. nice character! I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what you used to create it & export it. If it was 3dsmax, what settings did you use? I'm having major trouble geting skined bone aimation to work! - If you could post the original files, the .max or milkshake or whatever that would be freeking fantastic!

Well, I got the alien into FPSC but he seems to be stuck to the floor, doing a chomping motion.

Hey guys. Yeah, download and host all you want just glad to see it is getting used. The only thing that would bother me is if people started claiming they made it.
