In Belgium, if you stand in one of the non-Belgian war memorials (well at least an English one) you are allowed to shoot cows across the border (possibly you must use WW1 guns). The guy that told us this would have done it if the farmers didn't care

Wrong. The number is actually called a Googal. The 'Google' web team mispelled it by accident, but kept the mispelling for their search engine name.

Googal is a 1 with 100 zeros.

I've heard 900 mph. The guy on that new WB show where you try to win $10,000 whipped candles out and his fiance held them. The trick was that he was standing too far away to hit her.

Explains why they only had 100 zeros on the poster.

This was actually on the radio this morning, some scientists have recently done a large number of tests on mice after deliberately increasing their blood pressure (not very nice, I know) and viagra actually does help prevent/cure heart conditions.

I'd hate to see the lab mice on viagra.
Just think, they get super strong and break free, only to take over and enslave humanity out of revenge for all of the horrible tests done to them and their fallen brothers.
Hmm, I guess the coffee hasn't worn off yet. Pretty good for 15 hours and 30 minutes. Sounds like an interesting game idea.

The Mitsubishi Pajero was never launched in a country where it had a dodgy meaning. It was sold from the offset under different names. Fact.

People didn't eat rancid meat because it was covered in curry, curry sauces were added to cover the meat that was known to be "beyond it's best". Fact

It really is take-away, not take-out. Fact. A take-out is what Americans would refer to as a drive-by shooting. Fact.

There is suppose to be a man from England coming to the states to go on a crime spree.. but not bad crimes but a crime spree to where he will break the useless laws in each state. The only example i can remember off the top of my head is : its illegal to go whale hunting in Utah from which there are no whales.

I can see it now:

police: why are you in a wetsuit in Utah
English guy replies: nothing
police says: you werent whale hunting were you
English guy responses: no....ummm....maybe
police yells: you were werent you...
police says on radio: psssh rodger we have a code whale on Salt Lake rd we need back up man is armed and whaling
English guy runs like hell
police on big mic: Put down the harpoon with your hands up

Lifes great

there was at one time over 2,000,000 hits for "Lord of the rings" on google, and if you spent 5 minutes on each one of them, 8 hours a day, it would take you over 200 years to see all of them. (note: this was taken from an oldish book, most likely there are more hits now.)

The gorilla's scientific species name is 'Gorilla gorilla gorilla'

the left leg on a chicken is more tender then the right one...

Over 80% of computer games developed in japan are never even considered for release elsewhere by the people who made, and so never get seen by even the publishers.

It was once believed that watching violence on tv or at the theatre would turn you into a violent person, these arguements have now mostly been forgotten. (Manhunt or GTA anyone?)

Most people have one side of the brain with is dominant over the other side, the dominant side of the brain is larger then the other side. Some people have a condition where both sides of the brain are the larger varient, this condition is called Dyslexia.

Most people who see how chocolate is made in Belgium never eat chocolate again.

Most people who work in abattoirs are vegetarians.

At least 12 people a year die in japan from bowing to low...

Never been to belgium, and considering what I've heard, I don't plan to go!

The follow may not be appropriate for younger users.

By Italian law, when someone murders a child under a certain age (probably 16) it is the parents of the child who decide on the fate of the murderer. There was one case where a man killed his own daughter, the only remaining blood-relative of the girl was her father; who murdered her. The law was followed and the father told the court to let him go, amazingly they did. (Somtimes I wonder why laws aren't changed.)
[edit] I have a funny feeling it may not have been Itali, but I'm not sure.

Japan has the world's most lenient censorship laws.

I didn't know until the other day, but a while ago 3 kids(when I say kids, they were around the age of 17) hacked someone to death with a scythe. Now for that, for some reason I blame on video games.

This is how the news takes things out of context to sensationalise it. If a person has abnormal tendencies of any kind, it is possible that films and programs may encourage these tendencies to be acted out. Typically, that would be young, easily influenced people whose personalities and opinions are developing rapidly.

Heck yes, remember last year when Manhunt was blamed for a 17 year old killing his 14 year old friend? Well I found on the Sky News Digital Active system (I was curious) that the murder happened while the two were argueing over a drugs payment. None of the news channels of papers pointed this out! It kinda puts everything into perspective doesn't it?

The Manhunt game was found in the victims room, not the killers. I have an article about it, I'll post the URL later (when I find it).

A Koala bears fingerprints are so similar to humans they could be confused at a crime scene.

Being sold between the two kids, which provoked the arguement that saw the 14 year old dead.

Anyone remember the columbine shooting in 1999? Two 15 year olds went into their school with full length jackets hiding automatic firearms (uzis or something similar I believe) walked straight into the cantine, killed 9 other students a teacher and then themselves. Doom was blamed for that incident, even though the game was about 7 years old and there were plenty of other games available at the time which were much more graphic, much more violent and some were very much banned already!

Fact this thread is cool

Urban legend this thread is cool

So yesterday ( i say yesterday because its now 2:30am where i live) me and my GF went to a mexican resteraunt or whatever and it was so busy there we had a hard time getting our check so she suggested to skip out on the bill and i suggested

Ordering food - 0$
Eating food - 17.90
Skipping on the bill - Priceless

Of course i payed but it was a nice thought

Fact - i don't want to go to jail for a 17.90$ meal

It takes half an ounce of petrol to start the average car.

Eh whatever

Fact: Rarely are parents ever blamed when their child (often 12 and below) becomes traumatised after playing an 18 certificate game.

Fact: When parents allow their children to use the internet un-supervised, the parents always blame the internet when they find their kid accessing porn and rotten dot com.
