The first thing you should do is plan out everthing on paper and this goes for all types of games. If you plan everything out on paper first the code and stuff will go a lot smoother and you'll be more likely to finish the project. So, for a third person shooter game you would start by writting a storyline, it doesn't have to be perfect just write a basic outline of the story. Then you should plan out on paper what weapons, items, etc. will be in the game. Then plan out some maps on paper. Once you get all the planning done you'll need to collect all your media, such as models, levels, images, etc. Then start coding it all. That's basically what you'll need to do .

story
you are summoned by a friend to see an amazing archeological find he and his friends have made in a remote Siberian province, his message was about a fantastic underground prehistoric temple that has sealed metal doors with an incredible amount of high quality workmanship for something from before history, they intend to enter the temple on the 27th of that month, you catch a train but are delayed by snowstorms en-route and arrive the day after the opening was to occur to find the village they where using as base deserted, you find the house they had rented as a base and find some simple clues and tools, but still you can find nobody, you decide to follow the map to the site and see if they are there.
the site is liberaly decorated with blood and gore, but no people, in a leanto at the site you find they had got all the locals together to help remove an "inner plug" from the main passage behind the doors, thats the last entry, it's getting dark, you start to hear unatural sounds around you (to unnerve the player, nothing happens), you enter the site and go down the passage to an inner temple, (if you attempt to go back to town a pack of "things" kill you) the floor gives way under you.

mission
to find the way out, find out what happened, and re-imprision whatever it was that got loose, you will need to find the following things

parchment(cryptic to do list)
key
lever(key and lever to reset the entrance
amulet(bait)
rope (to activate sealing the entrance)

method
the key will reset the doors and the lever reset the inner plug, then attach the rope to rings on the door/plug and the plug so that when pulled they close the doors, then you have to find a way to lure the creatures back inside with the amulet, the parchment will guide you too clues on how to reset the door hidden in various places, the amulet can be placed in a childs cart found at the site and will roll downhill into the opening, then start out for town and when the creatures appear run back to the site and push the cart with the amulet in it, then pull the rope when they go back inside after the amulet to seal em in, nice and simple, not too complicated for a first attempt.

i want to do a game back in medieval like time, with swords and stuff, but no guns. right now, i don't know what to put in my code, so if someone could help make a list of things to code, that'd be great.

i'm really lost now, and have no idea what to do. if someone really wants to help me, if you could make the whole outline of coding, and waht to do very specifically, i could try it. i know i'm asking a lot though, so any help would be appreciated.

i've just taken anything of value from your computer, credit card numbers, social security numbers, etc. oh, and you can't trace me, but if you’d feel better, go ahead and waste your life trying.
