Mainly trance, but due to the crap that's getting released (A cover of Show Me Heaven?... THE PAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIINNNNNNNN!) I'm turning to other stuff, mainly electro and 80s, stuff like Tubeway Army, Human League (Sound of the Crowd ranks as one of my favourites) and Kraftwerk.
Into more recent stuff too, Daft Punk, The Bravery, The Killers, Kasabian, etc.

But for the most part, trance and electro.

Nymphetamine - Overdose Mix: Cradle of Filth
Silent Wars: Arch Enemy
Dark Chest of Wonders: Nightwish
Planet Hell: Nightwish
Ghost Love Story: Nightwish
Sona Mi Areru Ec Sancitu: Panzer Dragoon Saga Soundtrack.
My Plague (Iowa Version): Slipknot

I don't suffer from insanity:

Correct me, but do you mean 'Follow by Incubus'? Like, on the Halo 2 soundtrack? Breaking Benjamin had 'Blow Me Away'.

Anyway...
Just about all of Tool
Vermilion-Slipknot
Follow-Incubus
Purple Haze-Hendrix
Hey Joe-Hendrix
Some Metallica (before the MTV sellout)
Guns 'N Roses

(I hope this thread dosen't turn into a flame war. )

Maybe he just listens to the music rather than judging the band on how gay they look/act.

I perfer the music out there in the tracking scene.. It's free AND quite frequently it's much better than the stuff commerical bands put out.

Fav genre: Metal
Second fav genre: (decent!) Drum n' Base and dance/trance type stuff (tie)

Favorite artist: DarkShadow
my favorites by dark shadow: Ghost of Mind, the last falling, Escape, and er probally 'Free from it All'

ALL of Fallout's stuph

Favorite dancey/uplifting type track would be.. Dreamland Nu-NRG remix

That's about it I have about 2.2gigs of songs on my hd, but it really depends on my mood as to what a listen to.. and I always like DarkShadow no matter what I like fallout's stuff when I just need to chill out for a while.

[EDIT]: grgh the link to dark shadow didn't work, here it is in 'plain' form http://www.modplug.com/mods/nrsearch.php3?session=&search_field=art_name&search_string=Dark%20Shadow

[EDIT2]: huh the href tags didn't work on the second edit.. maybe some problem with special characters or something, dunno

I didn't mean me. And the answer is nothing, nothing at all.

Still, am suprised at the lack of traditional programmer music. Don't get me wrong, I was always rock, metal, and 70's ish, but most people couldn't see the wood from their Jarre concert tapes. Perhaps is the difference between "beardy" programmers, and people who like programming, but may not go down that route later in life (yep, I'm talking about kids).

And the gay remark? Totally. Look at Poison, Kiss, hell basically glam rock in general. Totally gay looking. Even then really if you were honest But f**k that, the music could be awesome.

Can't believe Nirvana didn't get a mention though. Especially with the names some people were dropping.

Cheers

True. But then again it's been about ten years now.
I still consider the Pixies as one of my all time favourite bands, but constantly listening to four albums for a decade can get rather boring, I guess. So I hardly listen to them anymore... except for the first Saturday in May every year (but that's another story).

10 years are nothing. Most of the stuff we were listening to in Uni came from like a decade or two before.

Oh, and I forgot to mention Yngwie Malmsteen (if you are into guitar then you should *really* listen to this guy), and Sisters of Mercy. The sisters were the best goth rock band around IMHO. Brilliant brilliant brilliant brilliant... full stop. Although you had to listen to them outside of your Nirvana/ Metallica friends otherwise they would chuck you into the goth saddo department.

Ahem, and if we are on the subject of favourite music, then I nominate Abba as one of my favs. I know it's a complete opposite to my usual taste, but is all I remember of growing up in Italy. Top stuff, and I won't hear a word against it... money money money, come on now, you all know the words!... ahem, amend that to everyone over 30, c'mon now, you all know what I'm talking about!... it's so funny, it's a rich man's world... tra la la la la etc etc.

Nah, nothing to do with the Pixies itself. Traditionally I meet with a couple of friends from all over the place on the first Saturday in May (except if it's the 1st day of May- in that case we meet on the 2nd Saturday ). Some of them I only see once a year, others perhaps twice. Since it's an old tradition (from the early nineties) we've always kept the playlist pretty much the same (Pixies- all albums, Lemonheads, Bad Religion, Nirvana, Idol, King Crimson, Chili Peppers etc) as well as the drinks (drambuie, white russian, stout and port wine) and the food (BBQ). Celebrating the olden days, so to speak.

I forgot about that. Though I still don't think the "live" version they have on the SH4 soundtrack is really Live. If it was it was just a very damn good recording

I still like SH3's "Your not here" a little better though.
