There isn't a search feature that I know of on this forum, so I'd appreciate any comments from those in the know. I've been out of it as far as DB coding goes for a bit over a year and a half now, so...

What I want to know is exactly what kind of problem nVidia cards have with static objects *and* static collision boxes in DBC. I'd like something more concrete than "j00 fUxX0r3d" or "Doesn't work", if possible

Well, make that anything but "j00 fUxX0r3d", "Doesn't work", or awkward silence...

I check this thread every 2 days or so...still no replies, so I'll ask one more time, hehe...

Exactly what happens when static objects are used in a program that runs on a computer with a GeForce-series card? I've only heard secondhand or thirdhand rumors, all of which are vague and involve some variation of "It doesn't work".

I don't have a GeForce card nor do I have access to machines equipped with same. That's why I'm asking here.

Specifically, I want to know if static collision works on those cards. Static objects I can live without, but I'd prefer to be able to use the static collision functionality at least.

As far as I know, as long as your using the latest nVidia drivers, there are no real graphical problems.

Dont forget static collision boxes are dealt with in DB/DBpro, and nothing to do with the graphics hardware.

Good news everyone! I really am THAT good...
http://www.nickk.nildram.co.uk/ for great plug-ins - oh my, yes!

That's reassuring to hear...

Before I moved to a different city a year-plus ago, I was working on a level exporter plugin DLL for 3D Canvas Pro, and for the sake of elegance it used DBC's native collision commands. The best-performing ones were the v1.10+ sliding box commands and the like, so I focused on those.

My computer fried shortly after the move, and I didn't feel like filling up somebody else's computer with all of my programs and such, so my computer activities were effectively put on hiatus until recently. Anyway, I just got back into DBC and other programming languages, and the unfinished level exporter DLL has been calling my name for a while now.

I had a wee bit of a fright there when all those horror stories and rumors about the GeForce cards and statics got around to me. But I'm glad you sorted out my question, and I guess I can go ahead and finish my plugin so I can do something useful with it.
