Its a world format which is generally used for First Person Shooters - because it adapts the world to only show a "visible" set of polygons meaning you can budget more polygons on the worlds and such

it also has some other fancy features like built in collision, lightmapping, entities (thanks to GuyS plugin above), generic world format used by a multitude of editors which come as free or purchaseable - and if used in alot of current game

and i'm not sure what you mean solid like a matrix

thanks raven
i meant that can you make it so that a character can stand on it like in an rpg or get matrix height command type of thing cause im making an rpg and wondering weather or not to use db or db pro i just got lightwave 7 so if i create(or my terrain designer) make a 3d terrain thats not a matrix can it act like a solid floor in the game.

Ahh oki... well for terrains/matrix you'll be wanting your own function for this.

i'll quickly make 2 versions for doing this, DarkBasic Enhanced and DarkBasic Pro - i mean will be the exact same functions but have more freedom in Pro to achieve certain things

@Eddie

BSP is the level format used for Quake 2 / Half-Life / Quake 3 levels. Effectively you build them up as a series of rooms, add lights and then compile them.

BSP is very good for indoor levels, for outdoor areas use Matrixes or LOD Terrains (Terrains are currently a bit limited though - more terrain features will appear later on this year if Lee fulfills his promises.)
