I am currently editing a level for my game using quarke 6.2
and quake 3 levels. Unfortunatly I am finding the shadow maps way to strong with the result that surfaces away from the light source are black. I have tried additional light sources to soften the shadow areas but I find it destroys the overall shape of the shadows which is not what I want.

My aim is to produce outdoor light effects and one of them is early dawn where shadows need to be long.
Any suggestions???
