I'm so annoyed, I watched all the prelim but then I got distracted and missed the unveiling. Oh well.

I don't quite know what you are talking about.

Edit: Ok I realised. But why did they decide on a city that has a transport system so bad it may as well not exist?

Wasn't the UK insulting France's stadium? Of course, I haven't really been paying that much attention (since we just hosted the Olmpics, it doesn't really interest me ) so I've probably got it backwards.

Who is you? Maybe you don't realise, but I am you, and you are me. You're a coward anyway, you wouldn't fight in a war, so don't talk to me about surrendering

Yeah, with the word "won" being surrounded in gold. Heh. Apparently it started raining in Paris when they heard they had lost. Obviously it had been raining before, during, and after in London, so no change there....

Golly, the french get all serious and uppety when there are no sausage munchers on their doorstep

BTW, they are going to use the dome for gymnastics! Hah, actually use our tax money for decent use!

I don't like french sausages, too much garlic . I'm sure that wasn't at all related, but I just can't help myself sometimes. Much like you and beer

I agree with the Bouncy Brick dude. They are planning on renovating half of London for this. And who's gonna be paying for all of it, US! I'll be about 22 by the time 2012 rolls around. Besides I hate the olympics (as well as the French President dude with a stupid name, but thats a different matter) they are incredibly boring.

I was sat in a French cafe, with French colleagues, listening live on the loudspeaker of a mobile phone.

Then we left really quietly

im not really interested in the olympics at all, and dont see why everyone's so pleased about it. its not as if we landed on the moon or anything

I guess i should be glad actually, since all these foreigners will be coming to london and laughing in our faces about how badly a city can be managed, and then the governement will be like "aww crap, they laugh at us, maybe we should do something"

They ought to have the Olympics in the middle of the ocean. It would rule to watch all the runner and skiiers and skaters try to strutt their stuff on shark infested water. Sweet ownage.

Absolutely. Time to do the Trafalgar re-enactment from a few days ago again, and stuff the "red" side "blue" side nonsense. We know who won

I'll hopefully be in Beijing for 2008, definitely in Vancouver for 2010, and now I'm planning on visiting London in 2012. I'll be sure to drive on your backward roads--- look out citizens!

You guys are missing the bigger point here. This means that the United States won't have summer games in a 20 year span. Last time we had it was in 1996. At least we had the winter games three years ago.

Nah nah. We drive on the correct side. You just drive on the right side. Hmmm.

Whatever you say matey. But lets not miss out on the bigger point that Paris was crushed. Ah, the news is repeating footage of crying french people. Nice. I'm guessing it's not because of a new law requiring women to have less than 60% bodily hair, but actually when they heard the glorious news. Aha, and the Eurotunnel train pulling into Paris with a nice new "London 2012" plaque on the side. Hehehe...

I am in the Royal Air Force and have personally fought in both Gulf Wars and can be proud of any British envolvement in any conflict. So it is with hand on heart that I can proudly declare that France is a nation of surrendering cowards ... and that is not just my opinion but is a matter of historical record!

Don't believe me? ... look in your history books!

[Edit] ... just re-read my post!
It sounds very flame bait ... my apologies but I felt the point needed raising (although I apologise, I stand by my comments).

Having had to work alongside them from time to time it is clear to me where their priorities lie

Calm down. I can sense you are getting very aggitated and defensive. I mean no harm. There is no point turning what started off as a humourous conversation into a flame war. I appologise if previous comments annoyed you, I was just messing around.

Heh, found it funny when Capital Radio this morning pointed out that the french president (whatsisface) had to eat british food yesterday at G8
