right ive done some more backgroud reading. I haven't got a router. at the minute im connected to the internet via AOL using a 512K DSL modem from BT.
I have looked at all myt networfk connections. What my LAN does is obtain IP addresses automatically - this setting maybe the reason to not allow you as the client to join my hosted mulitplayer session.
Now, i could set a static IP address so that everyone could join my session at the same IP address, the roblem with this is that i don't know how to, preciselcy and don't know where to get my actual IP address from. As mentioned by Benjamin above, AOL uses some other IP address, what I want is my REAL IP address.
Now, would i have to uninstall AOL and use something like IE to access my real IP address instead of connecting through frigging AOL or is there a proper way of retreiving my real IP address (as if AOL did not exist on my machines at all). Any advice welcome (i'm going crazy back herer
