You are in charge of two robots who must escape the levels on offer. Each robot will walk and walk until they hit an obstacle (wall, fence, rock, etc) upon which they turn. The red robot turns left every time, the blue robot turns right. You drop markers onto the area to guide them (arrows to force them to turn, etc) and need to get them home!

Hurray for my game! Top votes

Nah, I'll hold off voting till I've played 'em all.

Just as a note, in the overview, it says there's a red and blue little robots, but it's actually red and Yellow.

Little Billy ( Yellow ) turns Clockwise ( Right )
Red ( Red ) turns Anti-Clockwise ( Left ).

Happy gaming

PS
If anyone wants to play a newer version ( bug fixes, updates, etc ), then go Here.
But, I urge you Do Not vote based on a newer version!

Another one I like

Pros
Retro game with a retro feel.
Looks like the original graphics, and the WinSkin is a nice finishing touch.
Simple to get the hang of and just get stuck in

Cons
Too simple to start with, I think it could get harder quicker

Good luck, another good contender!

I started off liking this game but it did not grow on me like I thought it might.

Love the window skinning though - adds a touch of uniqueness to the game.

I agree the window skinning is a nice touch.

Graphics and sound were ok ....but the music a little annoying

It could really do with a fast forward button though as they take too long to walk aound the level.

Also some form of grid would be helpful (even if it was only temporary while you had hold of a symbol)

I found the game pretty well polished. But I think it was designed for robots since I am too stupid to pass level 5

The comments about the earlier levels being strange and/or too easy is cos I didn't get time to finish the game

I wanted to have those as "tutorial" levels, each with its own little explanation at the start before you play, explaining what certain things do, and show you how to play the game.

Level 5 is the first hard one, and then 7 and 8 are the hardest

If anyone wants the codes to skip the levels, open up the source, and scroll right to the very bottom, and they're all there.
The first code is for getting into level 2, the second for level 3, etc, etc

I hope that those who didn't like the earlier levels will try skipping to the harder later ones ( 7 and 8 are tricky ).

Thanks for the comments, though, they're invaluable

Jess.

Sweet 3rd place game. Very professional look and feel, cool concept, and nice graphics. Only thing is I wish you would change the text on the buttons so that there is more contrast.

Flindiana,

Wonderful! Thanks

Yeah, that was a concern that I never thought of myself ( I couldn't see the trees for the forrest ).

In newer versions ( such as v9 which is downloadable from the above link ), that's fixed up, so the buttons are a sexy orange colour, just like the little background of the information panel at the bottom.

Cool game, I like the retro look to it. Nice trick to get a skinned window. Colors are a little loud with the bright yellow, but it's still neat. Sounds could have been better... The robot animations were good. And level editors are always a good thing!

There's a slight bug that if I place an item over another item, and then pull off the second item, the first item is gone forever even after reset. Simple check can be added to put the item back on the list of available ones if something is placed on top of it.

Good game but didn't make my voting pile.

I'm not a real programmer but I play one with DBPro!

That bug's been reported, and taken care of for version 9

Here's the change log, so that you know what's been fixed and what hasn't

Thanks for the comments

Oh. My. God. This game is terrible, the sucky gameplay is only matched by the suckiness of the graphics! Your name should be SuckTacular, because that's how much you suck!

LMAO!

(van slowly backs out of the puzzle arena)

I'm gonna use up my last vote on this one, mainly just for the outstanding game title, RoboMen - kinda like 'Police Cops', it's so in-your-face no?

Nicely presented, the display is definately unique in this compo. But my problem with this game is it's too much like Sega's Chu Chu Rocket, which was one damn annoying game, so I couldn't vote for it. Plays well and definately has some brain-ache puzzles in there. Nice work Jess, but sorry no vote from me.

I don't suffer from insanity - I enjoy every minute of it!

I enjoyed chu-chu rocket, so this one stood out for me. It's well made, challenging, and the window border is a nice touch. Actually the funniest thing I found was the sound effect when they fall in the water, I don't know why. Still, one of my top 10 games

Thanks guys

But, what on earth is Chu-Chu Rocket!?

The Darthster,
Were you being mean to Red and Little Billy by making them fall in the water on purpose? That's a cruel thing to do to poor, helpless ( and quite frankly, stupid ) RoboMen!

Glad you guy's appreciated the game Makes every second of development worth while

Chu Chu Rocket was Sega's first ever online playable game on Dreamcast, developed by Sonic Team. It's a similar concept to your game but what you had to do was save the Chu Chu's (basically mice) from these cat-like things with another weird name by moving them around and getting them into your rocket. There were puzzles like your game but the online mode was fast paced with up to 4 players all placing blocks down to get as many of the Chu Chu's into their rockets for points. It was insane and for me it was annoying.

Here's a review of it if you find a strange desire to find out more:

Hmmm, interesting.

From the review, I can see why you might get annoyed with it

Muhahahaha, yes I was at one point. For some reason the lives counter went beyond 0 and into negative numbers, so there was no limit to my cruelty

Pro's:
Nice funky User-Interface.
Fun little music track.
Nice sound effects.
Good puzzles.

Con's:
Very hard to understand what to do - no tutorial level.
Bugs are very annoying with regard to placing items, etc.
Music can get a little repedative after a while if you let it.

Comment:
A good game, but it needs a better learning curve.
Fun and interactive with the interface, the game resembles a hand-held system, which is an interesting take.
Given that this is, infact, my own game, I wont vote for it, but will rely on everyone else to do that for me

Hi Jess,

I loved the whole 'handheld' style interface, first DB game I've seen like that. Entertaining music and progressively challenging levels. Unfortunately I encountered a few bugs, one of which terminated the game entirely (on level 7).

Definitely in my top ten games, though. Good job!
