(Requires dbp 5.8)

It's no-media, so the whole game is right here.

Enjoy!

Hehe, i died...much nicer than many media including DB games i've seen

so good job!

only problem i had was that when i walked out of a building going forwards i would start outside close to the door and heading towards the door fast...so i would go back into the building almost immediatly...so i had to back out of the buildings backwards ...

i liked how it told you the bomb was underwater...so you could start looking only at the edge buildings...

it would be nice if you could see the buildings on the mini map (or did i miss that) and possibly have them dissapear off the map once you check them...though that might make it too easy

The buildings should appear on the mini map as white dots - but I have to admit, the pointer on the map isn't very accurate, so it's a bit tricky to use! I think making them disappear from the map once checked might make it too easy, though! Thanks for the comments - I'll take a look at the leaving house problem.

Cool game and with no media it's really great. But I found a small glitch. when you're inside a building and back jump you can jump right out of the building into nothing!

@Xp: Are you using version 5.8 of DBPro? It needs that for the createsound funtion's memblock format.

@Fash: I used to play Mercenary years - no - decades ago! I guess it was lurking somewhere in my subconscience when I wrote this - I think both games have a 'lonely' feel to them, as you are the only character around.

@Baggers: the createsound function always worked as far as I was aware - so long as you're using 5.8, it should make the appropriate noises! For info on the createsound format, see the first page in the thread at http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=49008&b=6 which I updated in August 2005 with the most up to date code.

@All: Thanks for the comments! Has nobody completed the game yet?!!

@FXGamer: I did try uploading a zipped exe, but the server wasn't having it. I'm afraid you might have to get yourself a copy of DBPro!

The boat is crucial to winning the game! There are keys for the boat, and clues as to where to find it, within the buildings around the island.

nice job ! love the no media part, lol. Complaints:
1) All 3 times ive played eventually a bug happens where you for some reason are in a building a bit higher than you entered it, causing you not to be able to exit the building, and having to restart the game.
2) Islands on each side of the main island suddenly appear at the beginning, unlike the others which emerge out of the fog.
3) Minimap is not accurate, in water or buildings.
4) You dont know if you've already searched a building.

Likes:
1) Awesome textures for not having media.
2) Love the water, and how it rises and falls.
3) I like the puzzle aspect of one leading to another all helping you to get the bomb.
3)

Video games…they take you places unreachable, unfeasible. Putting you in the book...putting you in the movie...putting you in a world, that before could only be imagined. expage.com/piratesmainpage.

Hmmm - think I fixed the flying bug and the not getting out of room bug. Also sorted the fade in of the mountains at the beginning. I know the pointer on the map isn't very accurate - but that's harder to fix, so that may have to wait until version 2. Thanks for the comments by the way.

That's because its not a Dark Basic command - it's just a function I wrote. You can find out the parameters, along with examples of sounds in the createsound thread here:

to do the minimap why dont you just use a 2nd camera and have some sort of cube above the player then you will be able to have a totally accurate minimap

Thanks for the suggestion - I did try that, but the problem I had was that the fog was preventing the 2nd camera from seeing the ground! I turned the fog off and it worked really well, except I really needed the fog to add atmosphere.

@David: createsound() is a function I wrote. It's not a DBPro command! You're welcome to use it though.

@Mold Rat/Uncle Sam: Once in the information tower, you get some information on the screen, a map and a key when you walk up to the table. Thats all you get, though! And you don't want to be taking the bomb back to the information tower - you need to take it to the boat!

Could you make this an exe please? I had to delete some sound code, and I think I must of got rid of something that lets you get the information in the building!

You shouldn't need to delete the sound code - just make sure you have version 5.8 of DBP or later. And also, make sure you walk right up to the table in the room, to get the objects on the table and the info.

I'm using the trial version, so I can't upgrade.

And I did walk up to the table, on top of it!

Please, exe!
