I would like to immortalise this thread from the old DarkBASIC archives - a testament to the power of stupidity and ignorance of some of the unfortunate souls in this world. Thanks to Rich for making this possible.

"Oh yes - an no need for double http:// you know..."

It is the HREF button adding the extra http://.
It did it with one of my posts too.

no href button...
http://www.darkbasicpro.com

Same url with href button used...
http://http://www.darkbasicpro.com

Actually...
You can see that it adds it when you push the button.
But of course no one notices it.

WarWolf,

You're right; they aren't very funny at all. They are like the most annoying people in the entire world. The only way to compensate for their lack of knowledge is to go with your smart friends and laugh your ass off at (not with) the stupid people.

Hehe, I still a guy like this. He stopped trying to learn programming a long time ago though. He asked me once after reading several books on C++: "Hey, you, I don't quite understand this with variables. What is a variable? Are they really necessary if I want to make a game?", and I said something like "If you haven't even learned about variables yet, then I think you should wait a few years before you try to learn C++. Or at least try something easier." That opened the gates of hell for a while. =)
For example, he started accusing me of being a stupid John Carmack-wannabe (anyway, who isn't? =) ).

WarWolf you get idiots like that all the time i mean its just stupid ... i mean firstly programming isn't hard its mostly common sense (which these people have non) ... secondly to get good you can't read a book look at the pictures or cut&paste code and wonder why it doesn't work directly.

i mean they're funny for all of 5mins, until they bug you too much and you think "oh fudge this!" and tell them where to stick it ... then suddenly YOUR the bad guy.
theres and even worse set of people, which will sit there and act like they know everything - and at the time can sound impressive but when you really start working on something you go - "hold on, what the hell was he smokin'!"

annoyingly i appear to be attracting these kinds on my msn, so they'd be like "oh i know howto do this, but i'd like to know how YOU'd do this" ... i mean i've been asked some real eyebrow raising questions.

i always thought code was a plural, because its a section of code

a 'code' is a section of alpha-numerics used to unlock something
to 'code' is to sequence this alpha-numeric combination

and technically really they're not codes but programming functions and program snippets
i'm still confused to where the term coding could've come from as really the only thing you could technically code would be direct Binary/Hex programming, which if your smart enough to do you'd code in that simply to give yourself a more viable way to make it quicker and easier within a more native language - but ho hum eh
