OK its looking good and i can make the decals.
But now i have to learn making fpe and other stuff.......

but further this is a tool that every self respecting FPS game creator should need!

My life is dedicated to dark,when i fail the wotld will be in lights hands.......

Getting Started:

First, make sure you've downloaded the latest version (Version 3.0)
Then, in the size x and size y boxes enter any number (recommended about 32 for getting started). Now, press the texture button and select any texture you wish to use. When your done, save! As of now, you'll have to include the exported model and texture along with an FPE file in the proper directories in FPSC. Hopefully I can get FPE generator to work right soon.

Any help on that would be appreciated

EDIT: Oh, forgot to thank you for saying this is such a good app! It's come a long way since the first version, and originally it was just a little tool I was going to use for myself. It's amazing what you end up with when you try

It appears when you save the original texture file as bmp or TGA to use less then 24 bit textures. anything over that and the black would not be transparent.

thats from my experience anyways

I found in FPSC you need either:
A) A bitmap
B) A TGA formatted so black is transparent
C) A DDS formatted so black is transparent

Oh, and FPE maker is finally getting minimul progress.

Okay, Update, finally.

The whole thing is getting ANOTHER re-look, but it will stay the same basic Windows gui. However, a quick glimpse to the future - THE FPE MAKER IS ALMOST FINISHED! That's right! As soon as it is done, Decal Maker will be able to give you your decals ready for FPSC, and as a plus, will support exporting DIRECTLY into it to save you time!

P.S. The Fpe Maker is a seperate program, BUT it only supports the nessasary features for a decal. It is called by Decal Maker.

VERSION 4 IS HERE

Yep, the FPE system is finished! It isn't a seperate program - I got it intergrated for file size saving - but it works the same non-the-less! It can now export RIGHT into FPSC!

uhm great program really helpful
but then again its not

it makes all of my decals come out the wrong way
and it makes letters backwards
and it makes my blood on black documents turn into red with black outlines and crap...
watch try add this to fpsc and get it to look right in decal maker

Well, the black outline is part of your image. I cannot help you there. However, seeing this problem (as all mine have had no text so I didn't notice) I will look into 'flipping' the texture on export. The new version also helps with several other issues, including deleting existing .bin files and gives you a icon when selecting your decal. I'll see if it is possible to flip the image. Once that is done version 4.1 will be released.

Also, I am *thinking* version 5 (not 4.1) will include animated decals. They'll have many more options than a normal decal, as it can be flat on the ground, rotate with the player, or stand without rotateing ect ect. I'll also have to make it support the animation in the program so you can preview it. Well, that is all just thought now, I'll go see if I can get the flip to work.

EDIT: if any parts of the documents are pure black (RGB(0,0,0)) then they will come out transparent.

Okay, here's where I'm having problems.

It does flip the image, but it comes out at 1024x1024, and causes major FPS drops. How do I rescale this to 512 or 256? All my attempts at rescaling the image don't work. Could someone help? I'll post in the DBP board for help too.

EDIT: For anyone who wants to know, here are the *planned* features for V4.1:
*Saves your texture as DDS file
*Deletes any current .bin or .dbo files in the way
*Fixes the flip problem

Oh, the transparecny thing, black (0,0,0) is transparent, but I found that if I make some minor ajustments to the FPE i can change that, so in 4.2 trancparency will be an option (along with whether or not you want it on walls).

@Blooddeath: Could you give me the exact message given? And does it crash after giving the message? When does it give you the message? I need as much detail as possible so I can recreate what's happening and fix the problem.

EDIT:
@Zizaco: Do you mean it will reduce your overlay making time by some seconds or makes it into some seconds?

export directly to FPSC
i have it set to my fpsc directory

i hit export
i name the entity "bloodeath"
okay heres the error

RUNTIME ERROR 105 - FILE DOES NOT EXIST AT LINE 215


and then it shuts itself down

Line 215 is where it loads the base FPE file. Check your decal maker directory and make sure FPEBASE.FPE exist, if not re-download and unzip and find the file. You might have had a problem when you unziped it.

Hmm...could you send me the one made in sign's FPE file? I think there might be a transparency setting in Signs i don't have.

EDIT: Also, your image is a jpeg, and not all of it is 0,0,0 black, it's variations because of the jpeg file saving. Save your decals as bitmaps or pngs or something like that.

Okay, blooddeath, here's what to do:
Seeing as that png doesn't have the JPG distortaion (NEVER USE JPEGS!) save it as a bmp and try it. It should work fine.

Oh, the image quality won't be very good I noticed, apparently my attempt for resizing the image was a bit too small still - I'll make a higher-res mode avaiable in 4.2, along with the option to put it on a wall.

Update:
Version 4.2 is in progress. Just some small bug fixes that seemed to pop up. I'm also setting the image export to be DDS *hopefully*. Animated decals might come, but not till later. If anyone has an suggestions please tell!

As of now transparency is all in the image. Quality level will be come an option, but transparency really isn't under my control, but rather your image. You see, the decal you have me has black around everything, but the particular black around the actuall logo isn't exactly black(0,0,0) rather it is a shade of black. Therefore it will show in FPSC.
