What would you like to see in FPSPack thats not in there yet?

1.9 is available now, and before the release of 2.0, I am taking suggestions.

Plus I will need a few beta testers for 2.0 before it is made public when it comes time to test.

I'd like to have a timed AVI while it unpacks. What I mean is that it would be great to play an avi to its finish while it unpacks, and then go to the loading screeen. Also, I'll gladly test.
Thanks.

@ FernandoK ... I have already been testing with full screen video that plays during unpacking, and waits for the video to end before it continues.

@ BULLSHOCK 2 ... I thought about adding back in the password protection. Plus I have also been testing a way to make games shareware, with built in keygen. This would be based on a random seed (number) that you make for your game project. Then you can make registration keys based on username and the custom seed in your project. Thats so other FPSPack users can't use FPSPack to make keys for your games. They would all be unique. Here is an example generated key:

Using a number I put into FPSPack for my game, I used one off the top of my head and entered:

1125677 for the seed number, and The Cow for a username. The generated key by FPSPack is:

79191-34312572-3891765

Thats what you would give to your user to register his-her copy of your game. So then, anytime someone needs a registration key, you open FPSPack, load your game settings for that game, and generate a key. You just need to make sure you use the same seed number when generating a key, or it won't work for the user. Hope this is understood.

I have not been able to run the last couple of versions:
I get a microsoft error:
FPSPack.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
Then allowing me to send the error report to MS.

I did just install the latest 9 service patches from MS and I don't know if that caused the problem. I applied the service patches about the time you released 1.7. I believe the last version I was able to run was 1.6 the last version I tried was 1.9.
I have no other problems on my computer (really)

Doing the version information will not be possible. As it stands, its blank, and will be that way. Its because the that information is hard-coded into a compiled exe.

But I have made lots of progress on the 'Shareware' feature and keygen part.

2.1 will also contain the skin designer, but be warned, it's indepth and will take some time to learn.

@ EvilStick - Delphi, but I won't use code modifier codes. They normally kill an application. Cause they simply hex the code, and if not done right, the exe would become useless and you would have to re-install..

How about a textbox with scroll bars on the splash screen that will load a text file. Like you get with an installation program. That way legal info, credits and such can be saved externally and loaded on the splash screen.

I wourld like to see a change of the premade standard-buttons. I mean, before You make it a gamefile You can change what buttons shall be standard-buttons. Like today I cant change the Return as a action-button to "F" before I make it a gamefile. Please this is something I really want to see in FPSPack!

The shareware system sounds SSOO cool!!!! Can it have an option to play a demo or full version? That way, you download one file, and they run the demo. If they like it, they order it, they are sent the code, and run the full version. Is that possible?

Good point - Clickteams installer pro thing can do that - but that is $199 or something. Ya, nevermind my idea. We want small demos!

I have found out something new that I wourld like to see. If You make Your games as shareware it wourld really be awesome with a SERIAL coder, so You only can lock up the full game with a serial number. You can solve this by making two exe files to one. One is the demo and the other exe is the rest of the game! If You can make it that easy everybody can make a shareware game...

P.S Even if You courld lock up games, I trust You man!

Hey, could someone email me a way to open one of my games I compressed with FPSPack? I built the game, compressed it, then thought I was done, being the tidy person that I am, I deleted the uncompressed game, and gave the compressed game to a friend. Then he told me the game had a glitch, it would be easy to fix, exept for one thing... I don't have any of the files, I already deleted the .FPM files. Yes, I was stupid, I will always keep an archive of them from now on. So could someone (Merranvo or Rastaman maybe?) email me the answer to this problem?

I think a much neede feature is an "unzip" one, many a time have I zipped a game, then noticed I made a mistake useing FPS Pack, and had to make the game over again, it's really time consuming.

lol, I'm just used to deleting things, it gets REALLY annoying! For instance, I had 3 segemnt packs ready to sell! 3 of them! And did I have a back-up? NoooOOOoo! I just HAD to delete al lmy bacl-up files, then my comp got a virus and we had to wipe everything off or risk losing the computer.

ok, my comp dosn't seem to have a Local Settings folder. I know Windows 2000 does, but I don't think XP does, could be wrong though.
In other words, I tried everything exactly as you said, but my comp couldn't find the specified path. Let me see, I also have a Windows 2000 computer (I alternate between these two comps), I'll put the game on it, then try it there. I'll edit in a jiffy

OK, it works, but if I were you Merrenvo (God, or whatever you call yourself these days) I'd edit those instructions out of that post.

So many people could have read it by now...perhaps have the FPSPack generate a random named folder somewhere. That way nobody can steal the games, as God/Merrenvo put it. God/Merrenvo or someone with the capability to, please edit that post out. If anyone uses FPSPack to package their games and the unpack location of the FPSC files isn't changed, what slight security is gained by using FPSPack will be lost.

A random filename wouldn't work, people could just use the search tool and search for "meshbank" and "texturebank" .etc.

Due to the latest posts on this thread, development of FPSPack has been put on hold.

If I do continue the project at a later time, I will be changing the security structure, but until then I no longer have any motivation to continue the project at this time. If it returns with new features and such, it may even go back to being a paid-for shareware application.

I don't have the time to constantly fight on these forums. I have better things to do. Until then... L8tr!
