Hello everyone,

Newbie has a question on sprite work. I have retail versions of both DBV1 and DBPro. I am new to DB so even though I learned Basic a long time ago I got the book "Beginner's guide to DarkBasic game Programming". I find that the example programs work fine for DBV1 but not the DBPro examples. The DBPro examples either show the background and not the sprite or show the sprite and not the background. Does anyone know if this a common problem with DBPro?

Thank you
Dave

It does seem in my game that using any of the sprite commands disables the backdrop, even under the P4 Beta

Use a skysphere or skybox to replace the backdrop instead.

NOBODY has a forum name as stupid as Darth Shader. I do.

do you use 'set sprite' before you use your sprites.

I use sprites and have no problem with them affecting my background.

Darth Shader

Thank you for that very helpful information. Just knowing that the backdrop was being turned off was great to know. I thought about it and what my solution is, based off what you said, to make the background a sprite as well and display the background sprite and then the F15 sprite. The example from the book is now working. I guess it's a work around...LOL

Thank's again
Dave

No actually I did not...I was trying to find out why the examples from the book were not working....I will check into that command.

Thank's for all the help
Dave
