Define "supported"...

It astounds me how so many aspiring game developers don't know how the Video Games industry works 8)

Give me about ten minutes. I am going to make a new thread so that anyone else who is wondering will see it... Your answer will be there 8)

No.

DarkBASIC was not developed by professional game developers, but I believe that some of the team have had experienced in the field so possibly.

DarkBASIC has not been used by any major companies to date. It is generally used by single people or teams aiming to produce smallish shareware games.

NOBODY has a forum name as stupid as Darth Shader. I do.

Comon Darth, don't squash hopes now 8)

No, DB has not been used for big productions yet , but give it some time. As the language grows, as does its users, the possibilities grow, as well. This is a good place to start learning... Matter of fact, much better than most places for that purpose 8)

Darth... "professional" depends on your definition doesn't it?

if you look at it like this Lee is the one who really took the idea and made it something quite tangeable - he does have a professional background ... and not just within the games industry.

your title for the post and actual question are very different ... DarkBasic is not currently being professionally used as an alternative to C++ with DirectX direct, this isn't to say it'll never become a professional noticeable product though.

as for publisher support, you're not likely to grab the attention of any of the big time player companies without something that can actually compete with current titles...
but that said, publishers don't give a damn what something was programmed within - as long as its good enough to make money off of
