A forum where we can report any bugs. We have been grovelling for one for a couple of months now

I can see reasons why Rich might not be overly enthusiastic about creating a bug board. No doubt we can expect one once most of them have been fixed, ie. around Patch 8 or 9.

good grief, patch 8 or 9...
I don't see any reason why we shouldn't have a bug board. We had one before, and no one from the DB team looked at it so why shouldn't we have one? (Actually, the DBTeam probably looked at it, just didn't reply much.)

Everyone would just go posting every single problem they had with a program on the bug board, thinking it was a problem with DB cos they can't fix it!

Yeah, why not just make one here?

I have actually made a bug board and I'll open it up for everyone when patch 4 is released publically.

Hehe true, but I didn't want to "complain" about that

Out of curiosity, are we going to see this mysterioous db-mail button working, or is the idea a little redundant now?

I need to change the way messages are moved from one board to another and then I'll open it. Simple as that.

i think adding a message delete at the same time might be a good idea too (^_^)
i mean you'll already be working around accessing the database and message foundation editing - might as well work on an entry deleter

i think we should have the right to just delete our own topics when they get outta hand.
i mean its one thing to have a productive topic on the board, its another when they're laced with immature comments and people don't come on for what the topic was originally about but to add thier 2cents.

Carm it!

Raven, if you want a topic deleted email an admin.

Maybe a Report this topic to admin would work a bit better...

lol... the admin is above - Rich keeps all of my posts around for entertainment value, which is quite annoying somedays. Do think it is a right we should all have so that we can just get rid of posts we don't want other to post within again.

a good example would be the Al'Quida Game one - i know thats not mine, but i'm sure the guy who made it would be a little pissed about where it went.

There should be NO deleting topics..... people need them for quoting and like Rich said >> some of them are just too damn funny !!

thats just your veiw though... some of us would rather get rid of peoples chances to cause later agrovation.

i don't care if they're placed within the backups of the forum - but it would be good to have a delete feature atleast for the main forum.
it would also allow us to clear some of the clutter because these forum has no thread culling and they get a bit ridiculous and i'm sure people who make a topic thats been made 20 odd times before might want to get rid of thier and use another one just to stop having the clutter.

Exactly ! others have views as well... it's NOT just yours that counts.

Yeah ! and your's is just your view though... some of us would rather keep previous topics.

And if you want to avoid later agrovations.... just don't make topics which could lead to this in the first place then there wouldn't be the need to delete it. ( problem solved )

I thought deleteing post (as rich said ur own) is a good idea personally, PPL do go out of hand on here and its really not worth it. I mean alot of you out there search for an argument when there shouldn't be one, The amount of times [FLAMEBAIT] appears on a thread is ridiculous (<--- scuse spelling) and sometimes it would just stop these arguments if we can erase them from existance. See my point, were all fellow coders good and bad, experianced or just starting out, we should help each other not argue!!

Love to all, K-Sponge

Yeah, good idea, people should be allowed to delete their own posts, it would help free up some space on the database aswell lol

I originally wanted to follow the Usenet idiom here - once you post, that's it. No going back. But Usenet works fine for dedicated client/readers but not so well in a web format so we've got post editing here to compensate (on Usenet you'd have to re-post).

However I am of the opinion that when you post, you post. That's it. What I'd prefer is the ability for you to say when you post the message that "this is an announcement" (i.e. no-one can reply to it). If you don't want peoples comments, they can't leave them. I'll think it over, for now there are no "delete" plans (and it wouldn't free space on the database because for legal reasons we keep copies of every single message posted here, including edits - you can edit a post a hundred times, we have a copy of every single one).

Cheers,

Rich

If someone started a topic, and it got out of hand..... then the person who started it - then deleted it >> that would just lead to people starting up specific topics to finish their arguments.

As with most disagreements/arguments .... half of the battle is "having the last word"

So haveing the ability to delete whole topics would be counter-productive. On the other hand >> having the ability to delete just your own posts is more appropriate.

We all have our own views/opinions and criticisms, and it shouldn't be upto the individual who started the topic whether we can voice them all not.

SO... delete your own words if you do wish, but leave our personal freedom of speach intact.

After all, this is what the moderators are for.... if a topics gets too out of hand then they FLAIMBAIT it,LOCK it or delete it.

Self moderation is not the answer.

If you want to delete your post just edit it to the point were it is no long there.
